Hi,
I get a feeling I may have asked this question before, but it was long ago and I haven’t gotten a response. Anyway, I have one big problem with ChromeVox at the moment which would make it not very practical for me, and that’s dealing with multiple languages. I normally use my Mac in English, it’s my system language, Alex is my default OS X voice. But I live in Poland so I also deal with Polish text, either for school, to read the news or just to talk to other people on-line. My problem is that no matter what I do I can’t get chromevox to switch to a non-English voice. I got 3 Polish voices on my system, the 2 Vocaliser ones that come with OS X, plus one I bought in infovox. When I select any of them as the default ChromeVox, or the “google TTS Polski” option, it just continues to use Alex no matter what page I’m on, even ones that I know definitely have proper <lang> markup. Voices in other languages don’t work either, neither the other vocaliser
voices for languages like German or the various other Google TTS languages. Curiously, ChromeVox switches between English voices perfectly. I can go from Alex to Fred to the novelty voices, or to any of the English Google TTS voices just fine.
Eventually, I figured out that I can force it to use a Polish voice if I go into the OS X system preferences and set one as my default Voice, then set the same voice in ChromeVox, but this is very impractical because it also changes almost every other app on the system, and doesn’t let me use any of the non-English Google languages. I’t’s also very slow to do this, a lot slower than just going into the Chromevox options.

So am I missing something here or is it a bug? If it’s the latter, where can I go to report it? Does ChromeVox have a bug tracker of any kind?

Hi,

You can find said bug tracker, here

As for switching languages, that currently can not be done, not even on Chrome OS, as far as I know.

NB. I'm just a daily fan and user of Chrome OS/Chromevox, nothing more.
