Chrome version 87 comes with a number of accessibility fixes and improvements across platforms. Here are some of the notable updates in this milestone, with links to relevant bugs and code changes when available for reference.
Switch Access is now available on Chromebooks. Switch Access is a feature that helps to make the interface accessible through the use of a one or two button switch controller, which is an important mode of navigation for users with motor and dexterity challenges. Feedback is now given when the accessibility tree has loaded on the chrome:accessibility page. (Change 2418973, Bug 1082502)
Anchors with non-ASCII characters now work as expected. (Change 2357250, Bug 985254, Bug 1117212)
Fixed an issue where label names were incorrect when the label embedded a control. (Change 2374514, Bug 1121637)
Added dark theme and accessibility colors to tooltip icon objects. (Change 2402278, Bug 1126671)
Context menus opened on multiline links are now visually anchored to the link text. (Change 2412906, Bug 1121180)
Context menus opened via keyboard are now populated with the correct options.(Change 2407077, Bug 1121180)
Fixed a VoiceOver bug where the webpage reads automatically, even when the “Automatically speak the webpage” checkbox in Voiceover Utility is not checked. (Change 2427070, Bug 1049320)
Misspellings are now announced with VoiceOver on Mac. (Change 2288789, Bug 1008031)
Navigating by tab now does not announce the text contained in a large container such as a table row if that container is focusable. (Change 2308649)
Added functionality that will allow the JAWS screen reader to announce the indentation level of a paragraph in a rich text field, such as in Google Docs or VS Code. (Change 2308231, Bug 1090995)
Fixed a regression in context menu announcements with NVDA. (Change 2381258, Bug 1122424)
Fixed an issue where select drop down options were reported to screen readers as menu items instead of list items. (Change 2369252, Bug 1114273)
Screen readers now obey empty document <title>. (Change 2385655, Bug 1123535)
Fixed hangs in certain accessibility scenarios. (Change 2369681, Bug 1120636)
Exposes bounding boxes of HTML select popup menus to accessibility on Chrome OS. (Change 2376472, Bug 1110367)
Visual and accessibility feedback is now available for in-session fingerprint authorization. (Change 2386579)
Fixed visual and accessibility bugs for in-session authorization dialog. (Change 2393249)
SVG grouping elements will now appear in the accessibility tree. (Change 2375989, Bug 892822)
ChromeVox
The mouse cursor is no longer visible when ChromeVox is used on a touch-only device. (Change 2436627, Bug 167952435)
ChromeVox no longer moves its focus indicator when adjusting the volume using hardware keys. (Change 2416751, Bug 1098914)
Fixed a Switch Access bug where ChromeVox moved focus from the on screen keyboard to webpage content, making it impossible to enter text. (Change 2373223, Bug 1113669)
Fixed a crash causing Switch Access to lock up and become unusable. (Change 2404388, Bug 1126707)
ChromeVox Learn Mode now describes all new gestures and what they do. (Change 2386377, Bug 1124454)
ChromeVox two finger swipe left and right can now perform escape and return respectively. (Change 2386009, Bug 1124454)
Fixed automatic image labels output in ChromeVox. (Change 2401970, Bug 1126176)
ChromeVox now provides feedback when entering or leaving an audio or video tag. (Change 2377110, Bug 111985)
Added support for aria-sort output in ChromeVox. (Change 2353704, Bug 1112983)
Added four finger swipe for ChromeVox to move among on-screen panes (launcher, status tray, web page, etc). (Change 2398842, Bug 1124454)
ChromeVox will now summarize the text content of a dialog when entering one. (Change 2378730)
ChromeVox will handle <textarea> in the same way it does a contenteditable. (Change 2402106, Bug 1061659)
ChromeVox now properly handles in-page links. (Change 2422704, Bug 1130786)
Fixed issues with ChromeVox output for HTML select elements. (Change 2380136, Bug 1122618)
Improved ChromeVox dictation when interacting with PIN authentication fields. (Change 2364637, Bug 1075994, Bug 1122675)
Fixed a bug where ChromeVox did not announce window closing in overview. mode. (Change 2380810, Bug 1111940)
Made accessibility improvements to overview mode when using ChromeVox and touch. (Change 2392993, Bug 853589)
Fixed an issue where Search+Space did not work for some element in Android apps. (Change 2409851)
Improved accessibility focus handling in Android apps. (Change 2398438)

Fixed Talk Back/Switch Access order of Find in Page controls. (Change 2421293, Bug 1093480)
Checkboxes on Android will now announce "partially checked" when in a mixed state. (Change 2432089, Bug 1121750)
Alertdialog content is now announced on creation. (Change 2380586, Bug 1114895)
Progress indicators (role="progressbar") are interesting on Android. (Change 2424976, Bug 1129688)
ToggleButtons on Android now explicitly announce their state. (Change 2432211, Bug 1121743)
Magnifier now follows focus in Android apps. (Change 2389802)
The Refine button now announces the text that will replace the Omnibox content, if the user presses the button. (Change 2382190, Bug 1096131)
Fixed an issue with the Chrome 3 dot menu when using TalkBack. (Change 2405442, Bug 1127217)
