Hi everybody,

I've mentioned this on a couple threads already, but I thought I would make an announcement to the group...

We just added ChromeVox to the Chrome Web Store! Hooray!

Here are some of the advantages to installing ChromeVox from the Web Store:
- You'll get automatic updates
- Version numbers mean something
- We have a fancy new icon :)

I updated the Installation Instructions here: http://code.google.com/p/google-axs-chrome/wiki/InstallingChromeVox and they describe how to download it from the Web Store.

Here is the quick version:
1) Make sure you're running Chrome 14 or higher
2) Uninstall any previous version of ChromeVox
3) Go to the ChromeVox page in the Chrome Web Store: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/kgejglhpjiefppelpmljglcjbhoiplfn
4) Click on the "Add to Chrome" button
5) A dialog should pop up titled "Confirm Installation" that lists the permissions that ChromeVox needs. We have a wiki page now about why we need these permissions if you're interested: http://code.google.com/p/google-axs-chrome/wiki/PermissionsGuide . Click on the "Install" button to complete the installation process.
6) Yay, ChromeVox is now installed!

This is wonderful, fantastic, and awesome! It will resolve 99.99% of
installation/initial setup issues.

I've switched over to official version and it's working much better
and notice that keyboard help works now!

Thanks!

Windows 7 x64, Google Chrome 14 stable and 16 Canary, and ChromeVox
from Chrome Web Store

* ALT+D for omnibar, type, LEFT/RIGHT ARROW, or BACKSPACE
Expected: Like in previous ChromeVox experimental extension, ChromeVox
to speak while typing, reviewing, and deleting characters in omnibar
Actual: absolute silence, it's like how it is/was on OS XLion
Regression: Yes

* ALT+F for file menu, DOWN ARROW
Expected: ChromeVox to navigate to/speak file menu and each item like
it did in previous ChromeVox experimental extension
Actual: absolute silence, it's like how it is/was on OS XLion
Regression: Yes

* ChromeVox page in the Chrome Web Store: http://t.co/iEwSZ8Hl
TAB, ChromeVox LEFT/RIGHT/UP/DOWN
Expected: ChromeVox to be able to read, navigate, read, and interact
with Chrome web store
Actual: absolute silence, nothing reads at all
Notes: NVDA works just fine.

* ChromeVox does not speak " or '
docs.google.com;
SHIFT+t for new text document;
type: "we'll see if ChromeVox will "speak" this!"
HOME, RIGHT ARROW through each character
CTRL+LEFT ARROW back through each word
Expected: ChroemVox to speak everything, including all punctuation/symbols
Actual: ' and " are skipped/ignored, treated as silent/unknown characters

Hello,
I'm on windows xp 32 bit.
While installing from the web store for me chromevox produces no audile
output.
When trying to load its options through extensions menu the options
window appears to be empty, at least NVDA is unable to read anything.
Please note previously when I have installed chromevox from the link
posted to this list several days ago I was getting output while reading
menus while focus was changing on the web hovever I was unable to use
chromevox specific shortcut keys. Even control to pause the speech did
not work in that case.

Greetings

Peter

Google accessibility feedback page does not have ChromeVox as a screen
reader: https://docs.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?answer=1631662

I absolutely agree 100% with the feedback below re: table navigation
being very difficult and it should be possible to, only in table mode,
to use ChromeVox-second layer navigation/review/query commands,
without having to press ChromeVox-T first.

There's also no way to lock ChromeVox keys as Mac does not have an INSERT key.

Hi,
As i said before, Chromevox has promise but their navigation key
strokes need to be improved. Especially the table navigation key
strokes are clumcy and time consuming when you only have control key
on one side of the keyboard and no way of using an insert key cause
there is none on the bluetooth keyboard that comes with the newer
Imacs.
