Hello,

I accidentally deactivated Chromevox, so that when I now open that chrome
user within which that happened, Chromevox just says

Chromevox is now inactive.

Pressing the shortcut key does not seem to reactivate it, perhaps because
of the shortcut key conflict with my screenreader or other applications.
What alternatives are there for activating Chromevox again?

Thanks,
Imke

Why don't you do it via chrome options. Does your screen reader have a
by-pass key? Try this for each keystroke.

I used the screenreader NVDA to check in the Chromevox options, but I
wasn't sure exactly which checkbox I needed to make sure was checked.
Everything that was there seemed reasonably set. Exactly what do I need
to look for?

the command to toggle Chromevox on/off, is chromevox-A twice, if using classic keyboard map, chromevox-f4, if using flat keyboard map.

Hello Trenton,

Thanks for your reply. I am using the standard keyboard mapping, assuming
that that is the default. I am running from blocks on a Windows 7
desktop, and so the Chromevox key is Ctrl + Alt for me. I guess saying
that I need to press Ctrl+Alt+a and then Ctrl+Alt+a again? I have tried
that, and still no luck. I've also tried to precede both key combinations
with my screenreader's pass through command, to no avail. I also tried
Ctrl+Alt+a followed by just a with and without the pass-through commands
as well as all of these commands with an additional Shift accompanying all
a's. I also tried Ctlr+Alt+F4 with and without the pass-through command,
just in case. None of these are successful.

I have two separate Google accounts, and I have
set up two corresponding Chrome users, and I have created two desktop
icons, one for each Chrome user. Chromevox became inactive in one of the
two accounts, not in the other.

Does anyone have any other advise?

Thanks,

Imke Durre

Can you reinstall chrome in your user account that’s misbehaving? that way it might reset all of your settings including the corrupted one that is not letting chrimevox reactivate.

Take care.

Trentons advice worked for me, the command is listed in the "Extension options" for desktop.
