Hi all,

I just installed ChromeVox on my Ubuntu 14.04 workstation, where I am developing a website used by thousands of customers. Now I am investigating accessibility, as our clients want to use this.

While the app is speaking when I am navigating between tabs, I don't get basically any other sound feedback.

I was trying to complete the ChromeVox tutorial,  when discovered that even the basic Ctrl + Alt  ChromeVox key combination does not work.

It *is able* (or would be able) to run, as it is speaking when I navigate between tabs on Chrome, telling what it should when it goes to a new page. It "just" cannot be controlled by any key combination, as the basic ChromeVox modifier key (Ctrl + Alt) does not work. It interferes with the Gnome Unity key shortcuts, I guess. I tried to fiddle a lot around, changing the ChromeVox modifier key, then trying to change Unity shortcuts, but no success.

I've seen "

instructions for doing an eyes-free install of chromevox on Linux

" and a few other posts here, but could not make the key combination working. I don't have any issues with the speech synthetyzer, as some had, this is working. It is a question of integrating ChromeVox with Unity. Does anyone had solved this?

Thanks for help,
   Zsolt

I thought the default ChromeVox key combination was changed to shift+alt
a while ago. Maybe trying that will help.

Hi, no, it was not changed. I tried it - and many other key combinations, to no avail.

The solution was to update Chrome to version 54.0 *and* change the key to Alt + Shift. The update was not trivial, because the official Google PPA has some issues. But that's another story. Thank you very much for the info.

Maybe I changeda long time ago and do not remember, but I certainly have shift alt as my chromevox mod combo on Linuix.
I had experimented changing chromevox keyu quite a while back but had isues.
One can certainly check in official documentation if it is important to them.
