Hi,

I was very disappointed to find out that there is no support for the dutch language in ChromeVox on my chromebook. Someone suggested using the German voice, but that's ridiculous, that won't work.

Does anybody know if dutch will be supported in the near future?

To be honest, I'm not even sure if Google TTS itself supports Dutch.

Hello,
I am not familiar with google chrome or chromium os build instructions so I don't know how to build and / install this however I have noticed there are dutch voice data in the chromium os assets git repository which can be found at https://chromium.googlesource.com/chromiumos/platform/assets/+/master/speech_synthesis/patts

By looking at the dutch files I can see they are there in that repository since january 2014, so most likelly what you need is to install the google tts extension from the chrome store.

One more hint I was able to find in the following arch linux aur build script is that this voice is lower quality when compared to other google tts voices. https://aur4.archlinux.org/cgit/aur.git/tree/PKGBUILD?h=chromium-ext-chromiumos-tts-git

Greetings

Peter
