Jose,
Can you give us more information on what operating system you are using?

This link should get you started:

Once you turn on the accessibility menu as described in the article, you have an option in the accessibility menu to have docs read parts or all of the document aloud.
If you are using a screen reader, such as Voice Over on the Mac, you can configure the screen reader to read text aloud as you navigate the document.

In Mac OS, you can turn on text to speech in system preferences and have docs read the entire document using options + ESC.

In Chrome OS, you can use the Chrome VOX screen reader to read a Docs document and any other information as outlined here:

ChromeVOX as also available as a free extension to the Chrome browser on other operating systems:

In Android you can use Talk Back (In settings accessibility) or in IOS Voice over together with the docs mobile App to read teh document aloud.

Hope this helps,
Mark

Please note that the ChromeVox extension on operating systems other than Chrome OS is no longer under active development. We would encourage users to try a native or built-in screen reader.
Cheers,
Nektarios.

So, does this mean that chromevox is beeing pulled? Or what do you guys mean by  "not actively being developed" Which chromevox is not beeing supported. I'm a bit confused as there is chromevox for chrome books, and chromevox for google chrome. Is it google chrome's chromevos that will no longer be supported?

Take care all, froma very confused google chrome user.

Take care

It seems that they're saying ChromeVox on ChromeOS is still being developed. This would be ChromeVox running on a ChromeBook.

ChromeVox running as an extension in Google Chrome, running on something other than a ChromeBook, such as a Mac, a PC running Windows or a PC running Linux, is no longer being developed. This means no more new features.

The question I have is it still being supported? For example, might we see bug fixes? Also, how long before it's pulled from the Chrome Store.

This would make sense—although I’m a little sad to see ChromeVox being pulled from the Chrome Web Store, as there’s one specific scenario with my employer that works with ChromeVox and literally nothing else, that being the calendar add-on for our Confluence instance.  No ChromeVox means I’ll have a heck of a time booking time off.
But I can’t see ChromeVox for ChromeOS going away, because that would mean that ChromeOS would have no screen reader, which would probably be a violation of the CVAA.

Google representatives have stated in the past that the Chromevox extension for browsers on operating systems other than Chrome OS is not being actively developed. I doubt that It will be continued to be supported. Chromevox on Chrome OS is not disappearing.
