Hey everyone!

I would like to hereby propose we hold a general meeting this Sunday, the 7th October, at 19:00 GMT (no daylight savings), on our IRC channel, #axr, server irc.freenode.net.

Here's a summary of the topics that will be discussed:

- How to get more contributors for the prototype
In the web design industry it is quite easy to find people who are interested in a project such as ours, but to contribute to the prototype, C++ programming skills are needed, which are harder to find. We'll discuss specific steps we can take to improve the odds that knowledgeable developers join our case.

- JavaScript integration
Since our recent switch to Qt, which includes classes to add ECMAScript to Qt based software (it uses V8 internally), we are now in a way better position to add such capability to our prototype. This is one of the biggest things to come in our next few releases, so we will discuss everything around how best to do it, and how to integrate it with the rest of the language (the DOM api, MVC patterns, etc).

- Other uses of the AXR platform (library for mobile UI's?)
The primary goal of the AXR Project is to be a tool for creating web sites and applications, but the need for creating graphical UIs in software is not restricted to the web platform. The AXR libray could be a very useful tool for using HSS for creating UIs of native applications. Android and iOS could be an awesome target for this kind of use.

- User interaction and involvement
We'll discuss ideas and proposals for enhancements on our website, that will increase the feedback and involvement of the people that stumble upon our project.

- Ideas for improving our PR
We need to expand the social awareness of our project, to pick up a bit more momentum and to raise the discussion. We'll brainstorm and debate ideas for how we can improve in this area as a community.

The more we come to the meeting the better, so please answer to this thread and let us know if you are going to be there. Thanks!

Cheers,
Miro Keller

Hey all,

It's been a long while. And I'm happy that we're getting back on track. I've been recently looking into developing Windows 8 apps, and I'm struggling with XAML (since my code-behind is in C#). I've been used to CSS and its various iterations (LESS,  etc.) for styling stuff. Also, since I've been programming in C#, I'd assume my C++ skills wouldn't be so deficient.

Also, a kind request to all, do we have an idea for the roadmap of this project? Like what features we're looking to develop and how would we have to approach those. If we get to a few major milestones we might attract higher attention from the community at large.

And about the plan to use AXR to build/design UIs for Android/iOS and preferably in the future WP8 and BB10 - wouldn't it be easy if the AXR library compiled down to HTML5 compliant code with support for native hooks so that they can be easily integrated into various platforms with relative ease, as most if not all of these mobile platforms have options for Hybrid applications (Native+Web). Or if we were to translate AXR to Native we might need to write multiple parsers for various platforms.

And about growing our project and getting the word out, we must if we have a decent build spread the word among our own circles both offline and online (Work + Social networks (fb/twitter/dribble/app.net, etc)) and ask devs to use the library for just a week and get their views and feedback, and this is what we mostly need - we need to solve a pain point for our project to flourish, if this project can help them build out stuff faster and better, then this will undoubtedly be a success, but if this doesn't help them in any discernible way then we might have to re-evaluate what to focus on.

And once we've engaged them, their experiences with the library + blogposts will organically spread word among the internet.

Also, I'm currently at a hackathon in Chennai, India - In50hrs and I've been speaking to people about the AXR library and I met Jonah from Paper & Equator, NY which is a design firm focussed on building / consulting on early prototypes. They were extremely excited about AXR just because of its goals.

All the very best guys!

Cheers,
Ameen.

Nice hearing from you, it's been quite a long time :)

We have http://axr.vg/wiki/Roadmap, is that what you mean?

While these comments are greatly appreciated, shouldn't exactly these kind of things be discussed in Sunday's meeting? Will you come? :D

Nice! This is exactly what we need more of: spreading the word amongst our peers in the real world (offline).

All the very best guys!
