Dear Amazon RDS Customer,

We are pleased to announce that starting today Amazon RDS for Oracle allows you to change the system time zone of your RDS Oracle DB Instance. This will allow you to have time compatibility with your on-premise environments or legacy applications.

To modify the time zone of a new or existing RDS Oracle instance, use the "Option Group" option in the AWS Management Console. Please note that this option changes the time zone at the host level and impacts all date columns and values. We recommend that you analyze your data to determine what impact a time zone change will have. Before modifying the time zone in a production DB instance, we recommend you test the change in a test DB Instance.

Learn more by visiting the Oracle section of the Amazon RDS User Guide.

Sincerely,
The Amazon RDS Team
