Hi there,

I changed the listning port of my EC2 instance to port 80 to circumvent firewall and rebooted the machine. I no longer am able to connect to the instance now.

Could someone tell me how I could change back the port to what it was without logging in? The problem may be because I have apache installed on the maching that is also listening on port 80.

Thanks,

Duncan

Duncan,

Not sure I understand exactly what you've done, but you should always be able to in through the console and alter the security group settings to give you ssh access, then you can do whatever you wish.
Regards,

Mark

Duncan. I suspect you have done this at an application level and not at a security group level, in which case your only option is to stop the instance, detach the root EBS volume if indeed it is an EBS volume and not an ephemeral drive, and attach it to another running instance as a secondary drive. On this second instance, navigate to the appropriate file, edit and make the change, unmount and disconnect the secondary drive from the running instance and re-connect it to the original instance and start up.
More specific details here.

Thanks Glen - your solution sounds encouraging however I changed the registry:

How can I change the registry on the EBS volume? I am not sure it can be done.

I am thinking about killing my precious instance...
