Hi everyone,

Sorry to disturb the tumbleweeds!

By way of introduction: I am the IT architect at the Symbian
Foundation, stewards of the open-source Symbian smartphone platform,
in London. We're in the mid-stages of a deployment on Amazon EC2 at
the moment. As I got deeper into researching about and using AWS, I
wanted to see if there was a local users group. You guys are it!

In talking to Ross we've decided to see if we can fight through the
blog and ML spam and get a bit of conversation going here again. My
colleagues and I would love to see some regular meetings going again
in London, so anyone else who is interested, please make yourself
known.

Otherwise, I'm getting to the point where I have a few discoveries or
best practices that I would like to share, which I'll post up on the
blog at http://www.awsug.com/ as time permits.

Anyone else out there want to say hello, who they are, what their
interest in AWS is, etc?

Regards
Craig

Hi Craig,

Good to see activity again here.

I run the Scalr open source project (http://code.google.com/p/scalr/) which was given me experience that I'd love to share. Just let me know what questions you have!

Cheers,
Sebastian

Hi Craig,

I have run AWS/cloud meet ups in London and I organise CloudCamp in
London, Ian McDonald spoke at it this week. Please give me a call
Monday and we can discuss rejuvenating the London cloud user group.
Kind regards

Hello all,

I'm the new Technology Evangelist for Amazon Web Services in Europe, and I'd be delighted to see the London AWS group spring back into action.

I'd be happy to attend the next meeting and speak about AWS. Let me know if there is anything I can do to help.

It's a UK user group, but there are quite a few from London on the list,

Is there interest from the group to organise a pub session to discus
AWS? I really like the way #pubsub is putting the pub into pubsub!

Complicating matters even more there's http://www.awsug.com/ - great
domain, but doesn't really imply a locality at first glance, or on the
about page. (It's hidden on the bamboo at the top right though.)

I'm going to go through and freshen the blog up (permission pending).
I've also changed the heading on the Google group to make the UK part
more obvious.

(To combine two threads; I'm keen for presentations, meet-ups, pub
sessions, etc, and I'm in London. I'll be talking to Chris on Monday
to see what we can do.)

We could Organiser a number of small meet ups around the country and get people to video short presentations. I will ship the video recorded to the Organiser and when I get the device back I will do all the editing and uploading work....it will act as a really good resource for the community....what do you think?

I can't make that date sorry - any other day that week!  Earlier is also better - is there anyone that couldn't make a 6pm meetup?

I'm happy with pretty well any day. 6pm is a bit early but I can legitimately claim it's for work/networking purposes and get out early

Really sorry, I'm still stuck in the office. I won't bore you with excuses but I'm not leaving here anytime soon.
