I visited Winestore in The Village District today. (They have stores in Chapel Hill and Morrisville, too.) They had a blind tasting of The Prisoner and seven competitors. They did it via their wine dispenser machine, which I had never used before. $1 for a
reloadable card plus however much you want to add to it. The 1-oz pours were $1 each, so $8 for the tasting per person.
You serve yourself using the card and choose the wines in any order you choose. I'm sure I'm the only one who went 8 to 1, but that doesn't matter! One was The Prisoner, seven weren't. Kathy and I liked three of the wines well enough to purchase, and surprisingly
#2 and #3 were only $13 a bottle. Of course we identified and liked The Prisoner best.
But here's the point of this email: Winestore is selling The Prisoner at $34.99 per bottle, the best price I've seen anywhere. In general, prices are very good at this store, and I like the fact that before you purchase, you can taste 20 or so of the wines
for a buck.
