Hi Fellow WriteClub Writers,

My name is David Baboulene – a Brighton-based author, story consultant and PhD scholar of story theory at Brighton University.

I'm very proud to be giving a lecture in May as part of the Film Matters series. It’s aimed at anyone who would like to clearly understand where the power lies in a story idea.

I don’t subscribe to the ‘How to Write’ gang – you already know ‘how to write’ - but I do strongly believe that an understanding of how stories work, and knowledge of the top elements that give ALL good stories their beating heart, can greatly help a writer to keep on the spine of their story ideas.

I shall be discussing the top six elements that are present in all great stories. And not the tired old formulaic stuff based on structure. I’m talking about knowledge gaps, character growth, the role of morality, meaningful conflict, subtext. These are the things that resonate with a human mind. All made simple with great examples and clips from films such as Back to the Future – and an amazing trailer from Frozen which will amaze you!

http://www.enterthepitch.com/lectures/ for more details and booking – I think there are also some reviews from my previous lectures.

Take a look – and let me know if you’re coming – it will be great to meet you!

Thanks and regards,

David Baboulene
