In 1986, the world's worst nuclear disaster occurred at the Chernobyl power station. Soviet authorities established a 30km 'Exclusion Zone' around this nuclear wasteland, but in 2006 a second explosion rocked the stricken reactor, obliterating all living things and causing the Zone's boundaries to ripple outwards. From this epicenter came waves of mutated creatures, deadly radiation, and a strange, anomalous energy. The Zone was cordoned off by the military, who would shoot on sight anyone foolish enough to brave the horrors within.
In order to be able to change the weight limit, you must have a gamedata folder along with the "system.ltx" and "actor.ltx" files. Note that you need WinRar so you can open the folder from the link. It is free so you can download it easily.
3rd step - Modify the "fsgame.ltx" file.
To make the game read the data from the gamedata folder, you just have to change a word in your "fsgame.ltx" file, found in your S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl directory. Open it with notepad, and you should see something like this (without the quotations):
4th step - Start tweaking the "system.ltx" file.
Alright, now we can begin changing stuff from the "system.ltx" file. It's found in the "gamedata\config" folder. Open it with notepad then press Ctrl + F to search a word. It's easier like that, rather than searching something for yourself in the whole document. Alright, after pressing ctrl + F, write in "max_weight" (again, without the quotations). If the game isn't modded, then the "50" value should be next to that line. Well, that's the value of how much can your character carry before starting to tire. You may change it to whatever number you like. Let's say we put 100. After that, just close the file and save the changes.
Now there are still two changes that must be done before being able to carry as many KGs as you want. First, just open the "actor.ltx" file that can be found in the "gamedata\config\creatures" folder with notepad. Then press Ctrl + F again and search for "max_item_mass" (without the quotations). Next to that line, the "50" value should be input, if your game isn't modded. Alright, now you probably noticed the max_weight's value and the max_item_mass' value are the SAME. So you should input the SAME value to them both, otherwise it won't work. So if we put 100 to the max_weight's value, then we put 100 to the max_item_mass' value as well.
After that, search for "max_walk_weight" (without the quotations). The value next to it should be "60" if your game isn't modded, and it indicates how many KGs your character may carry before he won't be able to walk anymore. As you may have seen, this value is HIGHER than the other two values. So you should change it to a higher value too. If we input 100 to the other two, then we must put...let's say 110 to this one. Of course, you may put even 200 if you like, it's just that the number must be higher than the other two. After that, just close the file and save the changes.
Download the gamedata folder, copy it to your STALKER SoC directory, then start modifying the actor.ltx and system.ltx files as described in the tutorial.. You can open them with Notepad. And for SoC to read the modified data there, you must tweak the fsgame.ltx file. Please read everything carefully and you'll succeed.
I've read everything and followed the instructions carefully. I crossed every T and dotted every i but the game still refuses to open. I had no other mods for this game its a totally fresh install I just bought the game yet nothings works.
All I'm getting is FATAL ERROR. https gyazo.com/61d7b5fd7814f9379ee45c5de5daafd5 clearly this doesn't work if you want to edit vanilla. It's useful only if you have some mods. Works with stalker redux though.
Do you have any mod installed? It's possible that data from it might've been overwritten with the gamedata folder that you downloaded from here. If you do have a mod installed, then skip three steps as the tutorial says.
You need to be logged in as an administrator. If you already are, then right click on the file and press "Properties". Then click "Edit" in the "Security" tab. Press "Users" and click the square next to "Full Control", under "Allow" section. Press OK and you're good to go.
"If your game crashes or locks up, look for the log file that STALKER creates before running your game again. (STALKER overwrites the log each time you start the game.)
The saved games and logs are on the C: drive by default in the STALKER-SHOC subdirectory. In Vista and Windows 7 this subdirectory is under \Users\Public\Documents (Windows 8 is similar: \Users\Public\Public Documents) while in XP this is found in \Documents and Settings\All Users\Documents.
For Steam users, the game uses the directory assigned to $app_data_root$ in fsgame.ltx. At least it tries to do so; see the Troubleshooting FAQ if you have problems saving your changed settings or making saves.
* is usually your name, the one you see at the top of the menu when you click on the "start" button on the taskbar in XP. If your user name is Robert, for example, then you would find a file named xray_Robert.log.
Open the log file with a text editor or viewer. At the end of that file is usually a section that starts with "FATAL ERROR" and has lines beginning with "[error]" or following "stack trace". These lines are useful in identifying most script and configuration errors."

"arc_inv_weight" - where youd have to set the value the same as in "max_item_mass"
Hm. Yeah. However... soon after posting i was reminded that some of these "interresting" Russian mods are pretty hard to edit, as the devs seem to want you to play the mod their way.
In Fotograf, post carryweight-edit, the guy will be staggering and panting instantly when attempting a sprint, so it will require further tweaking... Spent two hours last night looking into and testing the usual tweaks to no avail...
I have just tried this with a fresh install from steam using version 1.0006 Every time i try to start the game the Xr-3da.exe crashes. Upon removing all changes the game will work just fine. did 1.0006 remove the ability to use mobs altogether ?
Same here... This actually messed up the whole game!
Config's' method helped me to get into the main menu but the game won't load.
Tried rolling it back with backup ltx files and it still crashes when loading up my old saved game.
Tried to start a new game... crashes. I'm reinstalling it now... :(
I've done everything in the list on my Stalker Lost Alpha 1.3003, but when I try to launch the games it says this: a crash has been detected by bug trap Expression: fatal error File: Xr_ini.cpp. Please help
im a tad tideous and always tries to do things "some other way", so when i altered the individual wep, for example the ak74, i changed the weight to 0.005 and subsequently all other weps i tend to use the most (imported weps from various sources, esp shotguns since i tend to only use shotties *_^) :P

All items you carry on your person is in the "back-pack". This backpack is misleading, since it is basically the knapsack, your pockets, slung over your shoulder, etc. Basically, anything not being carried. All this is pointless since anything on the inventory screen counts its encumberance towards your 50.0 kilogram limit. Your inventory can be brought up with the "I" key.
Items in your backpack can be right mouse clicked for a context menu such as unload ammunition, eat (food), mount attachement, etc. Double clicking the item with your left mouse key will generally use the item or equip/de-equip the firearm.
All items have a condition meter, which determines how "good quality" the item is for sale or for use. An item in good condition works well and does not malfunction. About the only thing that will have the condition worth its darn will be weapons (they wear out quickly), armor (protection), and in rare cases, other items (very few).
At the outset you will not have any longarms and Wolf the stalker trainer will give you a sturdy Russian survival knife and a handgun (one of the ones you will discard or sell later). It's a start. Holster your weapon by pressing the key again or by equipping the binoculars or bolts.
Note that some weapons -- noticeably sniper rifles -- will not let your character sprint if the weapon is "in the hand". Put it away first and you can sprint. Dropping a currently held weapon will lighten your encumberance and de-equip the weapon all at once.
Handguns
Handguns are useless once you have yourself a decent longarm. Many infantry soldiers do not bother with sidearms (those that do are toy soldiers or played too many videogames). A solid assault rifle and a healthy amount of ammunition makes the infantry king in urban combat.
It's rare you will find a powerful handgun. When you do, it will most likely be a magnum of some sort, firing the .45 ACP ammo. Handguns work if you have nothing better but in general, you should sell the handguns you find (or ignore them altogether).
Submachinegun
There is only one SMG available in the whole game and that's the Viper 5. Basically an MP5 clone (fake weapons are great, since you avoid licensing issues) and uses the 9 mm FMJ and +P ammunition of the handguns. Notice the pitifully small amount of damage done by the weapon.
