Ok so I went and got QT creator. It from your PDF I obviously needed a "desktop kit" installed but can't find an clear way as to how exactly to do that. Checked the QT Site,. downloaded their docs, which are about as clear as mud. Finally dawned on me no compiler is installed, and I don't have the spare room on my boot volume to dedicate several GB to Xcode just to get the GCC Compiler installed and then go back to trying to find this mysterious kit file.
This is akin to "when up to one's ass in alligators, it's difficult to remember the original objective was to drain the swamp", in that I can't reach the crazy bump people (dunno if they're out of business or what, but the beta expired in 2012, the forums on the site have been down for almost as long) and I'm just looking for some mac based solution to generating a few normal maps for some textures to use in blender.
Installing multiple compilers and going through god knows what just to get them to run has little to do with draining my particular swamp. If I had some clearer directions as to how to go about this, it may help, or even better, if you have anybody you know with a mac who's already got this QT creator thing running, just have them build from your code, and it'd save those of us non "I build every app I have from source every day because I can" types an immense headache.
Thankee..
