We could use more Awesome GRRRL slammers! All levels, skills, styles welcome. There are also workshops for people who want to work on their pieces or just want to start writing & performing slam poetry. Hosted and MC'd by fellow Awesome GRRRL Tessa Leon!

The Australian Poetry Slam is set to explode again around Queensland in 2010. The competition returns bigger and bolder as the state’s best spoken word artists get ready to turn up the volume and electrify audiences at heats across the state.
Speak, scream, howl, whisper or sing your original poem at one of the Queensland Poetry Slam heats – electric live events where the audience is the judge! Heat winners will compete in the State finals at the State Library of Queensland on 22 October. Queensland’s top two slam poets will then slug it out for the coveted title of Australian Slam Poet 2010 at the National finals in Sydney.
The first Brisbane heat is on next Thursday 5th August from 6:30pm (sign up at 6) at Words or Whatever, Black Star Café, Thomas St West End.
Want to sharpen your words before they take flight? Come along to one of the free workshops before the slam.
