Incident Report: awe.sm Create API outage

Last night for 2 min from 2012-06-08 04:07:00 GMT to 2012-06-08 04:09:00 GMT (i.e. 9:07pm-9:09pm PDT on Thursday, June 7) all the awe.sm Create API endpoints were unavailable and served HTML HTTP 500 errors.

This was as the result of a minor issue with an otherwise successful major infrastructure upgrade we pushed to the Create API last night. While this was a known potential failure scenario and the total downtime was less than 2 minutes, our goal is always to push upgrades without service interruption no matter how brief. So our apologies for any issues this may have caused with your applications.

The good news is that we now have a much more robust back-end powering the Create API which is already delivering faster performance and will enable us to deploy new features (like https://groups.google.com/group/awesm-api/browse_thread/thread/ef7b6f465b60732f) going forward.
