Hi all,
Having successfully completed our initial API upgrade testing late last week, we are planning to complete the upgrade this Monday evening (PDT). We take uptime very seriously and thus have been extremely deliberate in this transition so as to deliver the maximum benefit to you with the minimum risk of service interruption.
Unfortunately, the final step of the upgrade will require a planned 5-10 minute outage of the link creation service. Redirections and stats will NOT be affected by this outage.
This means both the calls to generate links via our API and any awe.sm-enabled share links on you site and/or in your UI will not work during this outage.
For attempts via the Create API (i.e.
http://create.awe.sm/url.:format), we will be returning your server an HTTP 503 with the following error message:
"503 Service Unavailable
No server is available to handle this request."
For create attempts via Share Links (i.e.
http://create.awe.sm/url/share), we will also be returning your users an HTTP 503 but with the following error message:
"We're sorry, but the sharing service is temporarily unavailable. Please try again shortly."
We are currently planning to initiate the upgrade at 11:00pm PDT (GMT -7) on this coming Monday, August 23.
We anticipate the link creation service interruption to be under 10 minutes and have scheduled it at a time that we hope minimizes the impact to you and your users. Please let me know ASAP if you have any questions or concerns regarding the above plan.
Thanks,
-jonathan
