Titan HD 2000 are good av tire, if you want longer lasting tire the Titan Ultimate is a very good tire with deep tread . But in your case I would stick with the HD2000 . We have the HD 2000 on a LX 565 with 2000hrs that need replace but have been a very good tire.

You get what you pay for with skid steer tires. You can get the Bibsteels significantly cheaper than that, but for a walk in price that sounds about right. They are an excellent tire, the ride is like putting an air ride seat into your SSL. Wear is very long which you probably wont need, I've worn a set of the 10" out but the 12" are over 2,200hrs and still going strong. They are resistant to punctures too which is very nice. They are pricey though overall for minimal use.

The Firestones are a rip off, unless their price has changed they are not worth what they ask for them.

Titan makes junk, but the HD2000 is not a bad tire, we got around 1000hrs out of them on 7,000lb SSL's. Very hard stiff tire though.

If you really want to save money you can get some Solideal's. They will be the cheapest and work okay for minimal use. I just got a set for our machine that sees less than 100hrs per year.

Our 70XT had HD2000s on it when we bought it, they were about 30% tread and lasted 350 hours before they were bald. Replaced them with Michelin's and after 300 hours they still looks like new, also have had 0 flat tires with the Michelins and had 4-5 flats on the Titans while we had them. The Bibsteel's do ride better, not a night and day improvement but it is noticeable. Traction is much improved with the Bibsteel's, the Titans would just fill up with mud and be worthless but the radials have enough flex that they clean out about 75% better than bias ply. On packed snow or ice the Titans are so hard they can't dig in to get any grip, the Michelin's have enough flex that it lets the lugs grip the ice, I still plan to run tire chains if it's really icy but where I needed chains last year I haven't seen a need for them yet this year.

crossbredFARMER - 2/4/2015 21:46 Exactly y I use cheap tires, with four skid loaders I'm bound to ruin a few tires, I would much rather ruin a cheap one and I think they are easier to change

Not always. Try some bibsteels, I think you will be surprised. When all of our machines were on the factory Cat (Titan HD2000) tires I was fixing at least one per week, many were punctures. The biggest machine has Tweels which obviously don't go flat, the other two have Bibsteels and in the 3500hrs+ combined running Bibsteels I've fixed one puncture. The bibsteels use steel belting which really does help apparently compared to the nylon and fabric of the bias tires.

Bibsteel is also the softest easier tire you will ever mount, sidewalls are very flexible. Nice thing about that too is that if they ever do go low on air the operator knows. The Titans were so stiff that the guys running it wouldn't even notice the tire was completely flat, especially a front one.

I maybe bend a rim back once every couple months and thats about it for tire repairs now on SSL's.

DB Tracks - 2/4/2015 20:52 Durallymax were do you buy Bibsteels, we need to get new tires for our s750 would like to try them, 12.5 x 16s Thanks. Dan

I buy most tires from Bauer Built. The best price for Bibsteels though is with a fleet account which you can setup if you wish. The price is very low, cheaper than you can buy a new Firestone. I just ordered another set of 12" ones. The 10" ones did not last so I put some 12's on the little 226 and the guys running it all said they didn't mind them so they're staying, needed a new set of 12's in the next couple months for our 242. That set of 12's will be over 2,500hrs when I finally change them. I change them when you can still make out the tread pattern, some run until cords are showing. The 10" set only made it about 1,400hrs.

With a fleet account you have to go through authorized dealers, that's how I ended up at Bauer. I think Pomps can sell the bibsteels under your fleet account also. I go to Pomps for Michelin truck tires sometimes as they have a location nearby, but most everything else comes from Bauer, they deliver weekly. They have great prices otherwise on pretty much every brand. Anything I dont mount myself I just have a local tire guy do.

If you need more info on it or want to call me just email me.

Bibsteel's on 242 with around 2,200hrs+ on them now. I need to rotate them.

Worn out 10" Bibsteels after 1,400hrs being switched for 12" bibsteels. Looks a bit dramatic but they work fine.

There's always the Tweel, but they are a significant investment and you really need to pile the hours on or hate flats to justify them. If you need a solid tire though, these are definitely a better alternative as long as you dont work in demo or scrap metal. They only have about 400hrs on them in this photo. The original set we ran had over 2,000hrs on them and would've made it to 2,500 without an issue. They are retreadable also.
