FYI-- I am the Port Alberni Representative for the network, so wanted to keep you in the loop :)

Here are my notes from Monday's OARH (Organizing Against Racism & Hate) Vancouver Island Network meeting:

-Highlights from Port Alberni:

- Two Social Justice classes (ADSS & VAST)

-Capitol Theatre: April: Diary of Anne Frank Play

-VAST SJ12 went to HMCS Alberni Museum in Comox to see Anne Frank Exhibit

-VAST SJ12 class went to Residential School Memorial on Tseshaht Reserve with artist Connie Watts

-ADSS Leadership: Red Cross RespectED program to local elementary schools

- Literacy Alberni & local Church: 2 Immigrant families

-United Church- Blanket Exercise-Decolonization Activity (Upcoming)

-ADTU- QMunity LGBTQ Training last Pro Day

-Summer: Pride BBQ & Participation in Canada Day Parade

Opportunities:

Cultural Competency Training 1 Day Workshop: VAST, ADSS & NIC - Fully funded. (This spring)- Have followed up with facilitator.

Engagement w/ Reconciliation Canada Community Dialogue (TBD)- Waiting to hear.

Torn Rainbow Play: Free Non-Royalty License for Script & discussion guide (Any time, with drama teacher interest). - Have followed up with ADSS Drama.

Question: Port Alberni's "Critical Incident Response Protocol" was created some time ago with Embrace BC.  Have e-mailed them to get a copy of it; no one seems to know anything about its contents. Any recollection of this?
