I have recently been in touch with Lynn Shaw, the Vice President Academic at Pacific Coast University, and she asked me to help spread the word about a summer credit course being offered onsite at PCU-WHS, which may be of interest to people who work in employment supports or social services.  This course is open to those who may be looking for elective credit courses as part of certificate or degree from other programs. It will offer a focus specific on disability management issues related to return to work or work retention.

3-Day Intensive Summer Course Onsite at Pacific Coast University for Workplace Health Sciences in Port Alberni BC!

WHDM 409 – The Changing Nature of Work Summer Course (1.5 credits)

This 3-day intensive credit course will take place on July 21st, 22nd, and 23rd, 2015 at Pacific Coast University for Workplace Health Sciences in Port Alberni, BC. The final day of registration is June 30, 2015.

WHDM 409 – The Changing Nature of Work: Implications for Field and Practice of Disability Management

Students will examine factors that affect the nature of work and how it is performed. This will include technological change, work organization, the divide between rote work and more cognitively complex tasks, globalization and organizational mobility, and the use of outsourcing and temporary employees. There will be an emphasis on how the transformation of work in the contemporary world of work impacts upon the field and practice of disability management.

Please note that the course will be offered subject to enrolment.

For those with the CDMP & CRTWC designation, 20 CEC hours are granted for successful completion.
