Hi all - via Nick Car & Eliana Papoutsoglou

The W3C has formed a second Data Shapes WG to extend and maintain SHACL-based Recommendations (standards).

Many of you will be aware of SHACL as a data-defined validation standard for RDF data. You may not be aware that SHACL is also capable of generating User Interface web forms and capable of inferring (reasoning) new RDF data, based on rules. This new WG will extend and maintain the existing SHACL specification (https://www.w3.org/TR/shacl/) and also introduce new specifications for these other capabilities.

You will find all information on the Working Group on the Group's home page: https://www.w3.org/groups/wg/data-shapes, in particular the WG's Charter:

Please see the proposed Deliverables:

  1. SHACL 1.2 Core
  2. SHACL 1.2 SPARQL Extensions
  3. SHACL 1.2 User Interfaces
  4. SHACL 1.2 Inferencing Rules
  5. SHACL 1.2 Profiling
  6. SHACL 1.2 Compact Syntax

Some of those Deliverables are updates in like with RDF 1.2 (RDF-Star), others are extensions that have been anticipated for a while (SHACL UI, SHACL CS) and some are innovations (SHACL Inferencing Rules & Profiling).

If you are interested in participating, you may join the WG - see the Group's home page, linked to above, for joining details - and you may also watch the development of the Deliverables online without joining as much of the WG's activities will be public in GitHub & W3C meeting reports etc.

Please promote this WG to other Semantic Web communities you are members of.

Regards,

Nick & Eliana
