Dear all

Just a refinement – this meeting will be focussed on geochemistry vocabularies – we have a global community that is trying to pull together vocabularies that describe geochemical data from the major international geochemistry repositories.

Take care

please note that "observableProperties" are in scope for the update of the OGC/W3C SOSA vocabularies, and this will require support for both simple hierarchical lists and richer models of relationships between properties and observation procedures.

implicit in this is the need for a federatable model for vocabulary management - how to use a subset of an external vocabulary and extend it, and do we need common data models or translators involved in this process.

having seen the initial work at the last ARDC Vocabulary Symposium, i dont think these aspects were covered - is this likely to be in scope in this workshop?  If not can we look into a followup focused on adopting, adapting and progressing international and domain-independent practices?

Hi Rob

I doubt it

This is just an introduction to a few members members of the International  OneGeochemistry (1GC) Initiative on how to use Github to manage vocabs as Edmund presented at the vocabulary symposium last November

We have at least 3 major existing Geochemistry data repositories/systems with supporting vocabs that they would like to publish.

How to then harmonise these globally is part of other work being done by the IGC group.

Take care

Lesley
