REMINDER - Next Tuesday: Australian Vocabulary Presentation - 1 September 2026

A reminder that the next AVSIG quarterly meeting will be held on Tuesday 1 September at the later time of 4:00 pm AEST.
I will chair the meeting, and we are pleased to feature two presentations:
- Natalia Atkins and Yuxuan Hu, Australian Ocean Data Network, Integrated Marine Observing System. "Vocabularies and use of machine learning in the new IMOS AODN Portal".
- The Australian Ocean Data Network (AODN) is in the process of developing its next version of the IMOS Australian Ocean Data Portal (https://portal-beta.aodn.org.au). The current version (https://portal.aodn.org.au/) strongly leverages the usage of the following AODN Vocabularies (https://vocabs.ardc.edu.au/search/#!/?activeTab=vocabularies&pp=15&q=AODN) – AODN Platform, AODN Discovery and AODN Organisation in its data collection search feature (Step 1). With expansion of the new Portal to showcase all metadata records and associated datasets currently discoverable in the AODN metadata catalogue (https://catalogue.aodn.org.au/geonetwork/srv/eng/catalog.search#/home) we are looking to Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) to improve discoverability of all AODN hosted and harvest metadata records.
