Ihave several Adobe fonts that show that they're installed for local apps but they're not showing up. They don't show up in any apps except Adobe. Some show up in Word but not all. Some show up in Apple Keynote but not all.
We're sorry to hear about this. If you have Adobe fonts that are installed for local applications but are not showing up in non-Adobe apps or are inconsistent in Microsoft Word, there could be several reasons for this issue.
Have you tried removing the affected fonts and then adding/installing them again? When the fonts go missing are certain applications running at the time? Does your computer have any font management apps installed?
So I just installed a new font to my pc. The font is: "Liebe Ist Fur Alle Da". When I try to use this font in Illustrator I can't find it. I've installed several other fonts this way and I can find them all in Illustrator.
What font format is the font file? TrueType or OpenType? Postscript Type 1 fonts no longer work in Adobe applications. The Windows OS technically doesn't support Type 1 fonts, but you can still install them (for the time being).
Adobe Illustrator can be a little finnicky about loading fonts that were installed in the operating system. Fonts that are poorly authored and have various technical issues may be disregarded by Illustrator. That's something to watch out for when using fonts downloaded from various free fonts web sites. I've even seen odd issues with fonts downloaded from the Google Fonts web site (they do update font files though). If the font's naming has some odd quality to it the font could be in Illustrator's fonts menu, but shuffled up or down to an unexpected location in the fonts list.
I downloaded the font from a site I've downloaded many more fonts from, I've never had an isue before. The font works in Photoshop tho? Is there a way to make it work on Illustrator that you can think of?
It's odd the font is visible in Photoshop, but not in Illustrator. On the other hand those applications have different development teams and a good bit of different code. It's likely there is something about the font file Illustrator doesn't like. I'd still double check the font menu in Illustrator to make sure the font isn't shuffled up or down to some weird place.
If you downloaded the font from a free fonts web site it might be worthwhile to check other sites carrying the same font. There might be a different build version of it that might work in both Photoshop and Illustrator. Just like any software, fonts can have bugs.
Another option is buying a copy of TransType 4. It can convert fonts from one format to another (such as converting old Type 1 fonts to OpenType format). The app can also repair some technical problems in fonts.
I tried to delete them from my iPad. I saw a tutorial that said that I could if I went to the Settings app, then go to Fonts. Well, I clicked on Fonts and it was saying that I didn't had no fonts installed!
I'm just starting with SceneBuilder and JavaFX. I've opened a test project and am checking out SceneBuilder. Added Label to the AnchorPane and wanted to change the font of the text. But I don't see any fonts installed in my system by me. I've already had some fonts installed in Windows before (Next Art, Montserrat, Bebas Neue). Neither of them is shown in SceneBuilder. I didn't find any helpful information on this problem. I've seen youtube videos where people choose their custom fonts directly from SceneBuilder. Am I doing something wrong?
Finally, I managed to make it work properly. Yet the answer was in an unanswered question here on the site :D.Well, the reason why SceneBuilder doesn't see my custom fonts is that they weren't installed for all users.Windows 10 stores your custom fonts in this folder:
Anyone who has ever tried installing fonts in windows 10 knows that microsoft have managed to make it a complete and utter nightmare, where you spend days trying to find out why the font you want hasn't installed, and when you try to install it again you are told it is already installed, and when you finally manage to view the file (in dos cmd prompt), it has created multiple copies which are all impossible to delete because "they are being used by another process".
I have a client who has changed two of their fonts. I downloaded the new fonts, and tried to install them in windows. There are three varients of one font, and five of another. I have FINALLY managed to get windows 10 to see 2 of one and 4 of the other. Word can see these fonts, so I do know they are installed, they are not just in the folder. And they are all definitely TTF fonts.
Now the next problem - Autocad can see the 4 fonts of one of the types, but it does not see the other at all. And that is the one I need the most, because it is the one that changes. If the worst came to the worst I could print the writing out and trace it in autocad, but this means tracing out each letter of the alphabet, which is what it looks like I might have to do. I have shut down and restarted both autocad and windows many times, so that is not the problem.
What is wrong with everything? Why, in an age where technology is supposed to help us, do I have to spend days, and it looks like it might be weeks, sorting out what should be a REALLY simple thing? Does anyone know why autocad is not recognising the installed TRUE TYPE font?
You might have helped me a little - when I went to get a screen shot of the font file (not easy because I have two screens) I decided to make it give me all the details of the fonts, and the path to both of those files was to C:\USERS\ANNE\APPDATA\LOCAL\MICROSOFT\WINDOS\FONTS\CAECILIA-LT-STD-55-ROMAN_2.TTF & ...\CAECILIA-LT-STD-75-BOLD_1.TTF. Although the font files are showing as .ttf , in the column which says Font type it is listing them both as Open Type. So this presumably has something to do with it. Which doesn't solve my problem of needing those fonts.
If it is the case, is it possible to convert these fonts to something autocad does recognise? I was told that Caecilia is a common font, so surely it should be possible to get it somehow? And in any case, isn't it time that Autocad learned to use fonts other than ttf or shx files? Particularly as it's getting the ttf files from windows anyway.
[OTF are stupid and performance eating raster-pictures and AutoCAD don't like raster data, not in PDF, JPEG and i am sure not in Fonts too. I guess thats the reason why Adesk never implemented OTF fully, fear about performance and plot(!)issues. Adesk have much enough problems on this front, also without raster-OTF]
I went online and converted one of the ttf files to an otf file with an online converter. I then took the new otf file and converted that to a ttf file, reinstalled it, and it is now showing up in autocad!
Obviously, although these files say they are ttf files, they are not. In all the research I did to try and fix the problem no one mentioned that there could possibly be 'false' ttf fonts around, so thank you.
i think this may be a very complex feature, because adobe font is a pay font collection, now i have a question for you, Adobe Font dont download the fonts to your computer? for now this is the way Sketch handle in a easy way the font you have installed.
I have downloaded some fonts and installed them by double-clicking to open them, then clicking "Install font". Word and other Windows programs can see them, but GIMP does not list them in the text tool. Why is this?
TLDR: C:\Windows\Fonts is not a real folder. It's simulates a folder, and using it as the GIMP location will not work. The quickest solution is simply to copy this folder over to another location and use that secondary location, i.e., C:\Windows\Real-Fonts. Doing this, and then the Preferences->Folders->Font folder location, and then restarting, solved the problem for me.
You need to add all font locations. For instance, if you downloaded a font, and it's in the download section, simply installing it through windows will not be sufficient. You also need to add the folder the .tff file is located in. Hence why some people are just moving fonts to gimp\2.0\fonts instead.
I installed the Google Roboto font family in Windows 10 and the fonts all show up in Word, Open Office, and other text-based apps. However, I can't seem to get them to show in TouchGFX, despite reboot, restart, etc. All other Windows fonts show in TouchGFX selection typography. Also placed the license.txt file in assets/fonts with no luck.
Recently had to do a new laptop, and just realized that I can no longer select Small Fonts within the icon editor. It is installed fine, and in the main program, it appears on the font list. But, if I open the icon editor, it is not available.
I downloaded the source code for the icon editor to try to get an idea of how it populated the list. If I set the INI file variable, it actually used Small Fonts even if it wasn't on this list. So, it was weird that it could access it, but not show it in the list. So, the icon editor looks in the registry for the list of fonts. Sure enough, that led to new Google searches which basically led me to believe that the font install was corrupted.
After fixing it, I probably could have fixed this myself within the registry now that I know the proper entries needed. However, I didn't have access to another computer and wasn't sure that registry entries alone would fix it.
It should be noted as well that within Windows 10, the fonts showed up as installed if I browsed the C:\Windows\Fonts directory, but not show up if I looked at the Fonts Settings in the Control Panel. Even after fixing it, Small Fonts still does not show up in the Fonts Control Panel Window.
So, I had to uninstall and reinstall the fonts, which was not trivial, as getting the font uninstalled would not delete the physical font file, and reinstalling, trying to overwrite the existing file would just result in the same original situation. On Windows 10 at least, font files are owned by the TrustedInstaller, and even Administrators cannot delete the files. Many sites state to just take ownership of the files, but Windows wouldn't even let me do that.
