Greetings,
A few days ago, intending to make a mug of tea, I switched the kettle on,
went upstairs to ring Clare, came down after about ten minutes to find the
kettle extremely hot. This somewhat surprised me as it usually remains
reasonably cool though the water boiled. I picked it up off the stand only
to discover there was no water, I usually check before switching on, it
seems this time I didn't.
I tried putting water in and switching on, no response. Obviously, the
whole thing had fused, good job I didn't have a total power black-out.
Until yesterday afternoon, I resorted to heating mugs of water in the micro
wave, this worked ok, meantime, Clare found a RussellHobbs kettle, similar
to my old one, at Argus in a sale, for £20, using her Nector card, it only
actually cost me £12.
The kettle now sits where the old one sat and seems to be working well. The
old one was purchased from Commit, I reckon back in about 2002 and has
lasted coming up to 24 years, probably costing around the same price, it was
a Phillips and, no doubt, would have lasted a good while longer.
I wonder if I'll get similar service from this RussellHobbs kettle?
I only purchased the Philips, because the one I had before was leaking,
this, I believe, may well have been my first, purchased when I moved here in
1992, can't recall what this was.
Anybody else want to relate similar stories? Please let's be hearing them
and maybe learn something, or at least have a good auld chuckle!
