Apple Announces New Accessibility Features Coming Later This Year, Including Improved Image Descriptions and Live Recognition
Hello from the team at AppleVis,
Ahead of the fifteenth annual Global Accessibility Awareness Day (GAAD) on May 21, Apple today announced a number of new accessibility features coming to its products later this year.
For blind, DeafBlind, and low vision users, the highlight of today's announcements is almost certain to be improvements to Image Explorer and Live Recognition, powered by Apple Intelligence. Image Explorer will be able to provide detailed descriptions of images across the operating system, including pictures and scanned documents. Live Recognition will integrate with iPhone's Action Button and provide an interactive interface for users to get detailed visual information about what is in the camera's viewfinder, an experience we believe will be similar to the functionality of current third-party description apps.
For everything we know so far on these and other new accessibility features, or to join the conversation, we invite you to visit this blog post on AppleVis.
Wishing you all the best and every good thing,
The AppleVis Editorial Team
