Hello,
Is it possible to wire the discrete inputs on the AvidDirector 200
(terminals 5-8 and 11-16 on the expansion board) with 24 volts?

Not directly, but you can with the appropriate interface circuitry.
For example, the demo board uses PS2501-4 Opto-isolators (see
http://www.cel.com/pdf/datasheets/ps2501.pdf) for the input to provide
isolation from the input bus and can be set to accept almost any input
voltage with the appropriate input resistor. For the output it uses
PCJ-105D3MH,000 relays which switch up to 240VAC at 5A. See the Demo
