OK..News is that GM will start closing plants at the end of this week
or next. Followed by Ford and Chrysler in the following weeks. If
anyone things this will work...forget it. This starts a chain
reaction that won't stop.
Now if people would listen to Ralph Nader, which they won't, there is
a very simple solution...do exactly what was done for Chrysler in the
70's.

Government aid to failing car makers should only be provided if the
senior executives are fired, the boards of directors are discharged
and replaced with public trustees and only fuel-efficient automobiles
are made in the future, Ralph Nader said yesterday.

Nader told a packed house at the University of Waterloo that when the
U.S. government bailed out Chrysler in 1979 the government demanded
stock in return for the aid, and that stock was later sold by the
treasury for $400 million.

"So that's the criteria (for a bail out) -- trusteeship, equity and
the third is changing the nature of the product, making them fuel
efficient and more compatible with safety and health," Nader said.

Canadian and American governments are being lobbied by the Big Three
in Detroit for billions in aid. Providing that aid is a good idea
under the right conditions because the car companies are just too big
to fail, Nader said.

"In that way you turn a crisis into an opportunity," Nader said.

"You take a bad situation and give governments the opportunity to
advance the technological sustainability of motor vehicles, the kind
of fuels they use, how much they use," Nader said.

He predicted the U.S. government will approve billions in aid to the
Big Three during emergency sessions next week without any public
input.

In Canada, the federal government is considering billions in aid to
the manufacturing sector, which is largely based in Ontario and often
connected to the automobile industry.

"They are too big to fail -- too many dealers, too many workers, too
many small businesses, too many tool shops will go down with them,"
Nader said.

"That's quite a way to celebrate General Motors' 100th birthday. You
really have to be brilliant to be the CEO of the largest, most
powerful company in the world and run it into the ground," Nader said.

Or we can shut them all down and bring the guns to the streets...
'cause that is what will happen....

...Just sayin'...

Have a great Day.. .: )
