I love Zorin OS and have been using it natively on my computer for over a year. I enjoy new version 17; however, there seems to be an issue with the way screenshots are taken. Unfortunately, I am unable to use ksnip, and no other screenshot software seems to work, preventing me from capturing screenshots with the desired characteristics.

As mentioned before, ZOS 17 has the GNOME screen shot utility that is embedded within GNOME that works on Wayland so you don't need another screen shot tool. You can call it up by using the Print Screen key or go to the menu and in the traditional GNOME layout it will be on the upper right screen with a camera icon.

The ZorinGroup can and does choose what direction they want their distro to go in - whether it supports Free Open Source and Modular applications; or whether it wants to support integrated apps that cannot be ported anywhere near so readily.

Also remember that the integrated screenshot does not have a delay function. My suggestion would be to try alternatives. I will test all the ones I know and see what (if any) works on Wayland on my VM of Zorin 17. Laters ...

I will have to dig out my Zorin Drive, but my priority is reinstalling PCLOS as I have inadvertently been playing with the BIOS! Also, I only use img.BB because it doesn't splatter people's machines with java.

Don't know exactly what you mean, because I don't use any windows snipping tool.I use "Screenshot 3.36.0" (install package gnome-screenshot). Which I have bound to the "print-screen"-button.Which this you can copy the screen (or window) to the clipboard or save to file.

Hi here is a way to create breaklines in screenshots using stickers and a combination of other tools in the app.
One example would be a long list and use cut tool to remove desired area, add position break line, the ctrl-c ctrl-v and in newly created tab use crop tool to eliminate the break line extensions and save. After a couple it gets easy.
I chose to use 14" and 24" (I know I use inches not px but Inkscape is just a button press) which seem to cover a full 1080x1920 full screen shot thus any as you crop the excess. Had issue with different lengths when stretching they distorted and this gives consistent look across all shots. In image I have ten stickers which covers both horizontal and vertical break lines. Just put .svg file on Desktop, go to settings and add, navigating to Desktop. This stores in in /home/user_name/.local/share/ksnip/ksnip and file on Desktop is no longer needed. (save if you like in your favorite location)

If interested you can download the double lines from this link below by right clicking on each one and save image as. For the dashed lines you can create in Inkscape. Did these while was member on Github but left. Did not upload the dashed line versions as easy enough to create in Inkscape.

Image below shows lines and cropping of vertical but same with horizontal. Maybe this information might help if you want to create a custom sticker, logo for your screenshots. Explore you will find ctrl-c ctrl-v and shift-ctrl-v can be used to create some nice screenshots.

Most Linux distros come with a built-in screenshot tool to help you capture your screen. However, many of these built-in tools can sometimes feel slow; not to mention, they often lack some useful features when stacked against their third-party counterparts.

What separates ksnip from other screenshot tools is its extensive feature set that includes multiple capture modes, command-line capture, annotation, uploading captured screenshots via FTP and scripts, and actions that simplify certain ksnip operations.

On any other Linux distro, you can install ksnip via Snap or Flatpak. With both these methods, you first need to ensure you have the package manager you wish to install ksnip with, present on your system.

If the output returns a version number, it means Snap or Flatpak is installed on your system. Else, it isn't, and you need to install it first, which you can do using our detailed Snap and Flatpak installation guide.

With ksnip installed, open the applications menu, search for ksnip, and launch it. You'll now see a tiny window with a few different options. In case you don't, click on the ksnip icon in the system tray to bring it up.

Before you start taking screenshots with ksnip, there are a few settings you should modify. To find them, click on Options in the ksnip main window and select Settings.

If you want to use hotkeys, make sure it's enabled in the settings. Navigate to the program settings and select HotKeys. Here, make sure that the checkbox for Enable Global HotKeys is selected. While you're here, check out the hotkeys for all the different capture modes.

Now, go to the screen or window you want to capture and press one of the screenshot hotkeys to capture it. Alternatively, bring up the ksnip main window, tap on the dropdown next to New, and select a capture mode as per your need.

For a delayed capture, hit the Up Arrow key in the field beside the timer icon in the ksnip window to increase the delay (in seconds). Once it's set, click on the dropdown beside New and select a capture mode from the list.

Generally, after you capture a screenshot, you may want to annotate or edit it to make it more presentable or fix its style. ksnip includes a built-in editor that lets you do this right inside the program.

At times, you may want to capture your screen to reference it while you're working on some other program. ksnip lets you do this with the pin feature, which allows you to pin the captured screenshot to your desktop.

Now, when you need to use it, capture a screenshot and click on Edit > Add Watermark. ksnip will then add your watermark to the screenshot. If you wish to change its position, click on it and drag the cursor/mouse around to move it.

One of the nifty features of ksnip is that it lets you create actions for various operations you can perform on a screenshot. As of this writing, you can create an action for the following ksnip operations:

For the purpose of this guide, let's say you want to create an action to capture a delayed screenshot. To do so, go to ksnip Settings. Tap on Actions from the left-hand pane and hit the Add button on top.

Next, check off the Take Capture box and select your desired delay (in seconds) from the dropdown button next to Delay. And then, click on the dropdown beside Capture Mode and select a capture mode from the list.

ksnip is a screenshot tool with lots of useful annotation features! You can quickly edit your screenshots and add circles, arrows watermarks and much more. Download ksnip for free!

If you are looking for a piece of software that you can use to both save and edit screenshots, then you may have come to the right place! Here you can read more about ksnip, which is a slightly more advanced alternative to the built-in Snipping Tool in Windows.

There are many different situations where having a good screenshot tool can be useful. Maybe you are working on a PowerPoint presentation where you have to explain how to use a specific computer program or a certain website. With ksnip you can easily save a screenshot of something on your screen, and you can use the annotation features to add text, arrows, smileys and much more to your screenshots. This makes it easier for other people to understand what you are trying to say.

Regardless of whether you use a computer with Windows, macOS or Linux, you can download and install ksnip because the program has been developed for all three operating systems. However, we have only tested the Windows version on a PC with Windows 11 Home installed.

When ksnip is open and running in the background on Windows, you can find it in the bottom right corner of the start menu. Just click on the small ksnip icon. On our PC a shortcut was not automatically created on the desktop, but you can just search for the program in the start menu. Alternatively, you can always manually create a shortcut on the desktop later.

When you want to save screenshots with ksnip, there are two ways you can do it. If you do not have the program window open, you can use ksnip's shortcut keys. For example, you can save a rectangular screenshot of a specific area on your screen by pressing Alt+Shift+R. Alternatively, you can click on ksnip's icon and do it from the program itself. You can see how it works in the GIF image below this text.

You can save four different kinds of screenshots with ksnip. Obviously, it is possible to save a screenshot of your entire screen. If you want a limited area, it is possible to select a specific program window or select a rectangular area somewhere on the screen. If you have several screens connected to your computer, you can also save screenshots of all the screens at once.

Many of the editing tools can be found on the right side of the ksnip, and most of them are self-explanatory when you look at the user interface. For example, you can add text and draw lines and arrows. If you want to hide a specific area of your screenshot, then there is also a function to either blur or pixelate the image. It is also possible to add watermarks to your screenshots, which is a very useful feature to have.
