Karthikholds a special place in my heart, as lot of the songs he has sung for Illayaraja, ARR, Harris Jayaraj, Yuvan Shankar Raja and Vidyasgarremain my favourites for various reasons. His voice has that rare quality of making time stop when you listen to the song. A voice so serene and beautiful that can just make you forget everything- a quality that greats like SPB, Hariharan have.
In such uncertain times, this song constantly reminds me and helps me to be calm, focussed and not get too worried about things that are not in our control. It gives me the positivity to approach this situation and go about life normally and not get too flustered with it all.
For me soul soothers will be Idhu Enna Maayam from Oram Po, Aagasatha Naa Paathuten from Cuckoo and Nallai Allai from Kaatru Veliyidai.. Anytime when I get stressed I listen to these on loop.. ??
Another Kishore lower range song I love a lot is Koi Hota Jisko Apna. When he hovers around the low notes and finally hits the low Sa (A/B flat), it is full of pathos. I am able to hit those notes with ease due to my high school choral training and constant listening of baritones/basses like Kishore, Hemant Kumar, Yesudas and the king of them all, BMK.
I think I would classify SPB as a tenor, though I can easily recall him singing in the lower range in the beginning for songs like O Papalali and Jagada Jagada (both from Geethanjali). And then there is Nachina Fuddu Vechani Beddu from Indrudu Chandrudu.
As for Raja, for a composer who spent the better part of 2 decades rarely offering chances to new singers (sure a Deepan Chakravarthy here or an Arun Mozhi there would creep in temporarily but Isai Ngani rarely broke out of his SPB/ Malaysia Vasudevan/ Mano/ Yesudass comfort zone) he later had no qualms about latching on to Flavor Of The Month singers like Hariharan then and Sid now
Sid is definitely a good singer and one of the best in the current lot (both in terms of singing/classical training). However, the kind of songs he has picked/gotten so far (except Thalli Pogathey here, Kadallalave there, ENPT songs) have been not that extraordinary. But one could also say, there is no one to Sid as Rahman was to Hari ?

In January 2020, it was reported that Jio Studios had signed dance choreographer Brinda to make her directorial debut through a romantic comedy film featuring Dulquer Salmaan, Aditi Rao Hydari and Kajal Aggarwal in the lead roles.[4][5] Titled Hey Sinamika, as inspired from a song from Mani Ratnam's O Kadhal Kanmani (2015), the film was launched at an event in Chennai during mid-March 2020. Madhan Karky was credited as the film's story, screenplay, dialogues and lyric writer, while Govind Vasantha and Preetha Jayaraman were announced as the film's music composer and cinematographer, respectively.[6][7]
The shoot commenced in Chennai after the launch ceremony, with filmmakers K. Bhagyaraj and Mani Ratnam being guest directors for the first shot. Actresses Suhasini and Khushbu, close friends of Brinda, also participated in the first shot by handling the clapperboard.[8] The film's shoot continued in Chennai with Salmaan and Hydari throughout March 2020 until it was stopped as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic in India.[9][10] The shoot of the film recommenced in early November 2020, with Kajal Aggarwal joining the set after her wedding.[11] The shoot of the film was completed in Chennai during late December 2020.[12][13]
Hey Sinamika was released in theatres on 3 March 2022.[14] The film was originally planned to release on 12 February 2021 as Valentine's Day special, but was postponed due to ongoing COVID-19 Pandemic in India. The film was then scheduled to be released in July 2021 but was again delayed. The film was scheduled to release in December 2021 but was again postponed.[15] Then the film was scheduled to release on 25 February 2022, but again got postponed for the same reason.[16]
Hey Sinamika was released in theatres on 3 March 2022. M Suganth, critic from Times of India gave 3 out of 5 stars and noted that "Hey Sinamika works better as a comedy than as a drama".[20] The Hindu critic gave a mixed review, saying, "Dulquer Salmaan and Aditi Rao Hydari salvage this messy love triangle".[21] A critic from Indian Express rated the movie 2 stars out of 5.[22]
However, Pinkvilla noted, "On the whole, Hey Sinamika is a one time watch this weekend and it has some romantic scenes between the couple to pep up your weekend. Dulquer, Aditi and Kajal are definitely a spark on the screen."[23]
Sudhir Srinivasan from Cinema Express gave 3 out of 5 stars and said, "Invested performances lift this interesting, but flawed romance".[24] Hindustan Times critic noted, "Hey Sinamika needed to be a breezy romantic comedy but what it ends up becoming is a problematic love triangle."[25] P Ayyappadas from Onmanorama opined, "One of those films you really need to watch with your family."[26]
Talking about getting Govind on board as the composer of 'Hey Sinamika', director Brinda Master said, "We knew him as the lead vocalist and mentor of the band, 'Thaikudam Bridge'. We also loved the Malayalam 'Fish rock' song of Thaikudam Bridge which he has performed on stage umpteen number of times and wanted to make a song on those lines and use the same energy of the song.
"Then, overnight, Govind became a sensation in the Tamil film industry with the film '96'. Our decision to go with Govind became all the more convincing after the release of '96'. And we went ahead and used the 'Fish rock' song and made 'Megham', which is the first song in the film."
To be fair, though, it's not just Aditi, the entire film is off-key that way. Every frame, scene, dialogue, event, song, dance feels like an awkward performance put up for an Instagram audience, in an effort to stage 'authenticity.'
Hey Sinamika is the story of Mouna (Aditi Rao Hydari), who is frustrated by her life with her husband Yaazhan (Dulquer Salmaan) and wants a break. Instead of having an honest conversation with her unemployed, over-talking, mansplaining, always-cooking, but doting husband, she tries to run away to Pondicherry. The devoted husband that he is, he follows her there. Pushed to a corner, Mouna seeks the help of a psychologist-cum-con artist Malarvizhi (Kajal Aggarwal). How Yaazhan remains gullible, Malarvizhi navigates her feelings and Mouna understands true love forms the rest of this visually beautiful and conceptually trite film.
The characters of Hey Sinamika come across as caricatures. We never understand them for who they are, but only as characteristics we might relate to because we've met people in real life with similar behaviour patterns. For instance, we know that Mouna doesn't like that Yaazhan talks so much. But, the film never answers why that is. Is that because he doesn't listen to her? Or because she doesn't want to listen to him? Why is he unemployed? Then, why does he readily take a job when one is offered? Most importantly, why don't they communicate with each other?
Malarvizhi, on the other hand, believes men are trash (can we fault her?). But why does she take it out on every man in the world? Why does she put herself and her professional integrity at great risk? To answer this, she is given a hasty backstory. But it barely supports her unwavering mission to break meandering men. Also, don't any of these people have families?
