A friend of mine, Dan Zulevic (http://www.carlfranzen.com/carlsstud.html) is a Basso student of Carl Franzen in San Jose.  Carl holds periodic recitals with his students at the San Jose Unitarian Church Labyrinth (an intimate venue). I attended last night's recital, and it was typically entertaining: a mix of several outstanding performances and a few less polished.  It's fun to compare them to see how students progress.
