We beleive that dance is for everybody and every body. Dance improves us physically, mentally, socially and emotionally. At AFDS you will be able to find your place, your home away from home, with people who care about you and support your passion and growth. We pride ourselves on teaching our students to have an open mind and to never give up.

Competition teams and companies are our most rigorous programs and prepare students for a lifetime of dance. Dancers come to class everyday motivated to improve and the highest level of professionalism. This program focuses on challenging oneself every day. Our competition program is designed by skill level, not age. Competition dancers are required to take ballet and technique as well as their team program plus additional weekend rehearsals and competition events.

and opened its doors in 2014. Its 3,600 Sq. Ft facility is beautifully designed with modern touches and a warm and welcoming atmosphere.
Originally from Poland, Mariusz Zakrzewski has been dancing and competing for more than 30 years across Europe and the United States. His vision of owning his own dance studio was realized 3 years ago when he and his wife Theresa, opened the doors to Elite Ballroom Dance Studio in Las Vegas. Mariusz continues to compete professionally in addition to his role as business owner and ballroom dance instructor. Their goal is to share their love of dance with the community and to one day coach daughters Victoria and Valentina.

While Steps is an award-winning studio, both regionally and nationally, we love that their true focus is on helping each dancer grow individually while providing unique opportunities for them to learn. Our daughter has had the opportunity to learn from professional dancers and choreographers from around the country, perform at Disney World, dance in a music video, and train and work with dance agency representatives. None of these experiences would have been possible without Steps.

Above all else, Steps is family. The teachers not only bring so much knowledge and experience to their classes but also a genuine love for the dancers. Our daughter has built close friendships with teammates that I am sure will last a lifetime. The studio provides her with a supportive community that encourages her to grow not only as a dancer but also as a person. There is a reason so many Steps Alumni come back year after year to help at the recital or to teach workshops. Steps N Motion is a second home for all of its dancers!

Steps N Motion was my dance home for 10 years. Over those ten years I not only gained a second family but also incredible dance technique and training. I started off as an average kid playing through all the sports but dance was something I always wanted to give a shot. I started as a simple recreational hip hop dancer on an all boys hip hop team. From there steps expanded my horizon and love for dance. I was introduced to all styles of dance and was taught how to strengthen each area. Because of steps I was also able to connect with other phenomenal dancers and choreographers who helped me grow even more. I left Steps senior year well trained in all styles as well as being prepared for the audition world and professional aspect of dance. Steps pushed me to be where I am today, which is Pace university in New York City. I will always be thankful for the incredible love and support I received at Steps. Thanks to them I am able to pursue my dream career.

Through the years, I have watched my girls not only grow as dancers in their technique, but I have watched their self confidence soar. They have been taught to set and achieve goals, cultivate self discipline, and embrace teamwork. The teachers at Steps are loving and encouraging every step of the way! They have built positive relationships with all of my girls; recognizing each of their strengths and uniquenesses, and creating a safe place for them to learn and develop as dancers.

Steps has truly become more than just a dance studio to us, it has become family. We have made life long friendships, created memories, and have had so much fun over the years. It is a place where my girls love spending time. The studio owners, together with the teachers, have fostered a welcoming and supportive environment for their dance families. Steps represent the definition of unity.

In 1934 she interviewed for a job with the San Antonio Parks and Recreation Department to teach music and dance. This first work was so popular and so successful that she remained with the program until her retirement in 1970. Berta, who never married, taught thousands of students some of which went on to very successful careers in dance. Timo Lozano, Felipe de la Rosa, Cruz Luna, Marina "Nita" Gonzales and Jackie Sparks.

When she started to teach she taught by her own accompaniment. She went to centers that had a piano; she would gather her class, placing them in order of height, so that all could see her. She would demonstrate the dance step until the students understood the mechanics, then she would go to the piano and play the music while the students performed the step. And so it went until the dance number was taught. The number of students began to grow and at the height of the dance popularity, classes grew to astounding numbers. As many as 125 students per class. These large classes were held in the Berta Almaguer Dance Studio and they had to be very innovative in how that many students were taught.
