Justto add from my experience, even for 100% no fault claims, do consider the possibility that the claim may fail against the other party, eg. a bankrupt drunk driver, so it is safer and is the routine practice to claim against own insurance first, so make sure if your insurer has workshop restrictions, their workshop is acceptable to you. Then again, I think you can go to your own workshop provided the quote is the same or lower than the authorised workshops.
If claiming against another party, can go to AD workshop. I been there and did it. Only when claiming OD,you need to go to approved workshop. But then again,of you pay double the excess, you can still go to your preferred workshop. Which in your case, AD workshop.
That is crap IMHO...if I am claiming against 3rd party, it does not involve MSIG...under what authority do they have to control you to go where ? This applies even if the other party that you claim is MSIG...its his policy you are claiming against not yours...so you have a choice to go whichever workshop you want.
Time for car insurance renewal. Need some advice. Looking at policy quotes for "own workshop" or "insurer's workshop". My car is still relatively new and still covered by warranty. If I purchase a policy which does not allow own workshop, I need to go to insurance company's workshop, correct? Will this void my warranty? Is it more advisable to select a policy for "own workshop" (all repairs to be done at vehicle warranty workshop) in order to maintain vehicle's warranty? TIA.
Note: Only broken windscreens are payable. Chipped or scratched windscreens are not claimable for windscreen claims. Windscreen excess will be waived if the windscreen is repaired instead of replaced.

No, the comprehensive motor insurance policy provides cover for accident-related repairs only. If your tyres are damaged in an accident with other parts of the vehicle damaged, the vehicle repairs and tyre replacement will be covered.
Your NCD will be protected for the first claim arising out of the same accident made during the period of insurance. If you have more than one claim arising out of different accidents, your NCD for the subsequent claims will be affected.
I am with MSIG motor insurance. Had an accident recently. Wanted to bring my ride to Lye Design to repair it. However Mei informed me that they are not an authorised workshop. I informed her that my insurance allows me to go to any workshop but she said they still can't repair for me.
Does anyone knows why i can't go to certain workshops to settle the accident claims and yet mine is any workshops?
Oh. The replies i get from a small and big workshop is they are not authorised under MSIG.
That really made me shocked as i even told them mine is all workshops but they still said cannot.
The workshop now told me cannot make claims on my own insurance cause they had started work on my ride already? Does it work that way even thought i had went to MSIG reporting centre and made the report and they taken photos of my ride?

My new car comes with compulsory 1st year car insurance with AIG. This is my first time with AIG. There is issue with NCD calculation with them. I am not convinced what they said about my NCD (10% difference). How may i, on my own or ask 3rd party, to check/verify what is my NCD as of now?
But easiest way to check NCD on record is to try to get a quote from another company, talk to a CSO (customer service officer) and enquire casually about current NCD. You can also act blur and ask about NCD protector, then they will reply it only applies when NCD hits 50 percent, which gives you an opening to ask about your current NCD. But usually this is openly revealed, and they're all sharing the same database.
It is only natural that every car owner wants their car to be in good hands. As much as possible, they will try their best to get their car fixed at a reliable workshop. This is why your insurance company has selected workshops that have satisfied the requirements and standards to be their panel workshops. To ease you, we are going to share lists of insurance panel workshops in Malaysia.
A panel workshop is a workshop authorized by your insurance to repair your car that is insured by the insurance. For instance, you have bought comprehensive insurance from Allianz. Say that your car meets with an accident caused by you or your driver, you must send your car to a panel workshop of Allianz.
For your information, all panel workshops must be approved by the General Insurance Association of Malaysia, commonly known as Persatuan Insuran Am Malaysia (PIAM). PIAM approves panel workshops through its scheme called PIAM Approved Repairers Scheme (PARS). As of October 2021, PIAM has approved 675 PARS repairers that are operating nationwide. On its website, PIAM provides lists of panel workshops in each state in Malaysia. In this article, we take a step further as we share lists of panel workshops according to insurance companies.
If your car runs into an accident because of your own mistake or negligence, you must send your car to a panel workshop to make an insurance claim, or more precisely an Own Damage (OD) claim. Your comprehensive insurance will then cover the repair cost or compensate you, subject to your insurance policy.
So if your car is repaired at a panel workshop, you will feel more confident and have peace of mind knowing the workshop is PIAM-approved. But if you are not happy with the workmanship, fret not, as you have a warranty as our next point shall clarify.
This is one of the most important reasons why you should send your car to a panel workshop. You can enjoy the benefit of a repair warranty of 6 months against defects on new parts or workmanship carried by the panel workshop.
Accidents can happen without any warning. To help you prepare for any unforeseen events, we are going to share lists of insurance panel workshops in Malaysia. For your benefit, keep or bookmark this article in case you need it.
