Choosingthe perfect picture frame size is easier than you probably think, especially since there are so many different photo sizes to choose from. Most popular sizes include 57 and 810, but both can be adapted to accommodate alternative sized photos, with some careful design backing.

In the same way, another way of ensuring that your photo stands out is to mount the photo itself on a coloured outline prior to inserting it into a larger sized frame. This is particularly useful if you want to include the photo within a larger space, where a smaller frame would not fit appropriately. If you want the photo to fit seamlessly in with photos you already have, a thin coloured rainbow flat photo frame such as the one below may be well suited.

Frame mounts provide much-needed breathing space between the canvas and the frame itself while also adding an intriguing and engaging shadow line to the edges of the picture, opening it all up to curious eyes.

I am trying to figure out how to have a consistent frame size with all graphs in graphs builder and consistent legend settings. I run a FOR loop having numerical values at the end of data table. It could range from 1 to many columns and I try to plot all the columns in Y axis.

The main discrepancy occurs when the Y axis has only one parameter, that legend doesn't show up but having 2 or more parameters, the legend automatically shows up and I don't have to write a separate JSL command for it. Because of that, each graph looks different because of the lack of space in legend settings.

But when I realized that in the Code of @ErraticAttack both functions are used my hope was gone.

In the example, the different X labels lead to completely different sizes of the graph.

As long as there is no rectangl around the whole graph (including the axes), nobody will notice, that both have the same size.

Yes, I would say it is possible, but it may require quite a bit of scripting to accomplish this for all possible graphs you want to make - especially if you are talking about Graph Builder.

To account for the display resolution of the monitor currently in use, you can access a Windows dll that will return the resolution of the monitor. You can use this to scale your pixel size specifications as desired. However, if you are working in a multiple monitor environment where each monitor may have a different resolution, it becomes practically impossible to account for the resolution because there is no way to know which monitor your graph is on.

To get smooth transitions from page to page, we want to create all graphs with the same frame size (same size for the outer box of the NxM subplots of a page - without axes) and the same font size of the axes and X/Y group labels.

I want to create box plots that first start with all results plotted in one box followed by the results of different collectives. I was able to create this kind of figure using the Graph Builder by creating two parallel graphs (see picture below: reality). But I would like the first diagram to be smaller (wish). Not only because this approach would safe a lot of space but also because it facilitates the understanding of the picture. Is it possible, to fullfill my wish? Thank you all in advance.

To be fair, I always forget this key sequence and never achieve the size I want. Since I do a lot of scripting, I prefer to set it specifically with a script. Using your graph, click the red menu and select Save Script to Sript window. Then add a Relative Sizes() statement like the one below, and rerun the script (right click and select Run).

Just found this and used it. Thanks!

One thing I found is that the list can truly take relative sizes not in pixels. I built a two panel graph with [125 375]. I tried [1 3] just for grins. Got the same result.

DO NOT comma separate the elements in that list. It won't run. Took me 20 minutes to figure out what my mistake was...

Thank you!! Have been wishing I could do something like this for awhile. There are so many helpful tips hidden in these message boards. I wish JMP would have a "tip of the day" option I could turn on specifically for JSL that would give hints/tips like this.

I think the question was about display aspect ratio, Ann. That's the setting I can't adjust. Width and height are locked together, so when I change one, the other changes too. I'm trying to output a very short (as in display height) but wide video file. The kind of letterbox format that would normally have black borders top and bottom, but without the black borders.

The aspect ratio is only locked in the preview section of sequence settings for me. In CC 2017, if I adjust the sequence settings and select 'Custom', I can set any size I want under the 'Video' section.

My challenge was to find a way of outputting a video that had been created in a 16:9 frame, using cropping to mask the top and bottom portions of the frame. By outputting to 16:9 I got black bars top and bottom. The client asked for these to be removed and I did this at the output stage.

With my 16:9 timeline selected, with its black bars, I went to 'Export/Media'. In the Export Settings box I went to 'source' and clicked on the cropping tool. I dragged the top and bottom edges to the edges of the black bars, effectively selecting only video content. The cropping tool told me the new dimensions of the frame and I used this information to set the output dimensions on the right.

I hope this helps people. I landed on this page in the quest to solve this problem and managed it thanks to the previous posts on here. Perhaps this addition will make it more useful for people with the same challenge as me.

Yes, Jim. The sequence was to be used as background to a web page and the clips were close-ups of machinery pulled from a corporate documentary. It needed a bit of adjustment to pull the most dynamic part into the frame, but not much.

I would only add to describe where the "source" item is in the export media window. It is one of the two tabs at the top left above your video preview. Once clicking the "source" tab the crop tool appears right below it. While adjusting the crops on each side manually it will report the pixel width. So very helpful. Thanks again!

But I cannot produce a video with these dimensions. Adobe Premiere Pro documentation states: The maximum sequence frame size in pixels is 10240x8192. If you attempt to set one of the Frame Size dimensions higher than this limit in the Sequence Settings dialog box, Premiere Pro resets the value to the maximum.

Kinda thought it would be something like that. Can that system upscale? I know most TVs do a better upscale job than most NLEs do ... and if so, make it to the largest width pixel dimension Pr goes to, and scale the width pixels accordingly.

I have recently downloaded the lightburn software and am a complete rookie. The output size that is being cut is around 1.5 times bigger than the frame size. I have seen people talking about GRBL and lens settings, not sure how I check these. Any help would be appreciated.

Hey, thanks for that. I got it all set up but the physical cut is now smaller than my file. I am just trying to mark a 50mm square for testing but it is coming out at 30mm. Am i doing something wrong?

When you first set up your device profile in LightBurn, did you import the markcfg7 file from your EZCad folder? This file contains important settings which affect the scale of your red dot framing and actual output. One or both of these may need adjusting.

Hello together,

I'm once again at a loss for a basic function because I don't have enough experience with the Publisher. FAQs and other sources have not helped me.

I have a picture frame in which a picture is placed that is much smaller than the picture frame. I would like to resize the picture frame WITHOUT resizing the picture placed in the frame. How do I do this again?

Thank you very much for your help.

Hallo zusammen,

Danke vielmals fr Eurer Hilfe.

In Publisher, you can select the Picture Frame, then check the Contextual Menu area for the Properties button. Change the Properties to None as far as scaling. Then using any of the corner points, you can resize only the frame. Also in this mode, when selecting the Picture Frame, the bottom right will now have a scaling dot that you can use to scale both the pic and frame.

Using your Screenshot here is what I achieved with just the Picture Frame tool in Publisher. I assumed you are using Publisher because you say "pictur frame". Use the Picture frame tool and just have the Picture Frame selected in the Layers panel, not the actual Picture inside the frame.

I am a Danish amateur who has used PageMaker and then InDesign for 30 years. Since they now only provide access via subscription, I have switched to Affinity Publisher. I can see that the program contains a lot of exciting possibilities. But they also take pride in organizing well-known, simple features as differently as possible compared to Adobe and often unnecessarily complicated.
