Hike at Port Alfred. Reservation for March. 4/5 Days. Min 4 ppl, Max 12. The group can pay R1500 to have goods carried for you (Slack option).

The booking was made by other people who are not going to make use of it anymore. The hike is popular and the possibility is there for us to take over the booking. Bookings have to be made a year in advance! We need to see if we can do this and respond by Friday morning at the latest.

Is anyone interested? The rest of the information is below. It would mean leave and a long drive if you are to join. Passing on the message as the reservation will be cancelled this weekend. I would love to go...

Tannie Amanda het hierdie staptog tentatief gereserveer vir 4 to 12 en ons en nog ‘n paartjie het gedink ons sal aansluit.  Nou kan van hierdie groepie nog net ons gaan en ek is nie meer so entoesiasties daaroor nie.  Sou van julle dalk belangstel hierin en die bespreking wil opvolg? Kyk na hul webblad en die kaart en beskrywings. Dit klink heel lekker – is net ver om te ry. Ek wil graag teen Vrydag vir haar finaal laat weet of sy die bespreking kan kanselleer.

Please let me know if you would like to book the Slack-packing option or is you will be carrying all your food and gear.

OPTION 1            4nights/5days  - Excluding the canoe trail  -  R560 pp

OPTION 2            5nights/6days  -  Including the canoe trail  -   R700 pp

 

1. This is a 5night /6day self-guided hike where you carry all gear, sleeping bags, utensils and food. 

     (Includes an 8km canoe on the 4th day and 3km hike into a game reserve. Return on the 5th day.)

2.    There is a slack-packing option, which costs an extra R1,500.00 for the group to share. (only to be paid upon our arrival)

3.    Minimum hikers= 4,  Maximum= 12. ( Ensure an even number for the double canoes).

4.    Please read the attached “Day to Day Option 2” and Map, for details and distances.

5.    All huts have drinking water, toilets and mattresses. Lily Pad has a donkey-boiler for hot water

      and Stone Cottage has a geyser. The other huts have cold water showers or basin wash.

6.    Transport to the start, and from the end of the trail can be arranged, at R70 per person.

MUST BRING  :  All food, beverages, toiletries, torches, matches, cooking & eating utensils and sleeping bags.

 

Children under 16 years should be accompanied by an adult in the canoe.     Minimum age for children - 8 years.

 

NB : If you need accommodation before and after the trail, I can suggest calling Mr Izak Scheepers. He has camping, backpackers accommodation and a 3-sleeper flat, on his farm nearby, which he has organized solely for the hikers and canoeists on this trail. Number 6 on the map.  Your vehicles can remain on his farm while you hike.

This accommodation will be an extra cost and must be organized by yourself and paid directly to him.  Please give him the leaders name and the hiking dates.
