Hi Glenn,

Thanks for making this great add-on for Firefox. Will you be updating
Autotrans to support Firefox 4? I'd love to be able to use this add-
on in the new version of the browser.

Thanks again!

Hi Mark,
I definitely hope to update the plugin for ff4 soon.  I simply haven't had the time to dig into what's needed.  Possibly in the coming weeks.

Thanks for the follow-up Glenn.  Again, the work you've done is very much appreciated.

Cheers!

Hi all,

First I'd like join previous posts to thank the author for taking the time and effort to develop this addon.

Second, as an interim solution here you have some tips to make this add-on work with Firefox 4:

Option 1. Forcing the FF max version on the add-on
  1.     From the menus select Help > Troubleshooting information
  2.     On this new tab, near the top, you’ll see a field called Profile Directory.  Click the button in the field to launch Finder (File Explorer for Windows).
  3.     In the window which has popped up navigate to the extensions folder.  Inside that should be another folder named “autotrans@glennpow”.  Inside this is a file called install.rdf
  4.     Open install.rdf in any plain text editor.
  5.     Around line 17 you should see some XML which looks like this: em:maxVersion="3.6.*" />
  6.     Update this to em:maxVersion="4.0" />
  7.     Save the file and restart Firefox.
Option 2. Using the Add-on compatibility Reporter .This extension allows you to re-enable any addon that has been disabled by Firefox 4 due to being detected as incompatible. I presume it does something similar to Option 1.
  1. Install the Add-on compatibility Reporter extension and restart FF.
  2. Go to menu Tools > Addons. Double-click the Autotrans extension the addon and select as compatible.
I haven't tried option 2 myself but I can say that with option 1 the addon works just fine, perhaps is a little slow but otherwise ok.

Regards,

Dani

Everyone, Dani's tip works great. It isn't slow at all for me.

Thanks a lot for the instructions Dani. It's very much appreciated.

Glenn, thank you so much for an excellent add-on, looking forward to
version compatible with FF4.

Daniel, the Option 2 worked pretty good for me on FF4, thanks for the
tip. I was able to do a fresh install of Autotrans on FF4 after
installing the compatibility add-on.
