Our friends at Ologic have a Kickstarter project to produce a robot base for cell phones. If they hit their goal, they will be able to buy molds and shoot plastics. You can run ROS on your smartphone and can do some cool table-top robot projects with this base.

Most of you probably know Bob, Ted and Brandon. They've always been very generous helping me on my robot projects, so I'm in for $250 on their Kickstarter.

I hope that this one-shot announcement here is OK -- since many of the list members here are friends of the Ologic crew I thought people would like to hear about their project.

+1, this is a great project!

Bob and Ted cranked out the hardware for this under some tight pressure last year and I was really impressed with how solid a product it is. Since then they've taken the software up a notch with support for iOS, the Cellbots.com app, and are now adding ROS support. Of all the cellphone-related robots out there, THIS is the one that I feel has the best shot at moving beyond a basic toy and doing advanced impressive tasks such as autonomous navigation (thanks to their drive to use ROS).

For $99 you can't help but root for this kind of project to take off and I hope others support it as I have. Without Kickstarter they won't get the volume discounts needed to really make this work so pledge today!

Cheers,
Ryan

Yep,

I saw their robot at a robotlaunch.com hackathon at citrix.com/startupaccelerator earlier this year. It is great!!
