I keep getting an error-

Error - code:134030 domain:1881441008

I tried deleting and reconfiguring the configuration with no luck.

I just installed it yesterday, version 1.28.

Everything else seems fine. I'm on Snow Leopard.

Hi,

There is a file in the Notes folder called .preferences.autoNotesPrefs. It stores some basic config items like the hot key, default fonts etc. This error seems to indicate some problem with opening or saving this file.

There's a good chance that in your console log there is a more specific error code that can tell more about what is going on. Do you remember what version of AutoNotes you were running before? (assuming you were running one before). Did the problem happen after an upgrade?

In the worst case, you should be able to delete the file .preferences.autoNotesPrefs, and you will simply have to set up your hot key and font preferences again. But you say you tried delaying the configuration. What exactly did you delete?

Console had no info.

I used the Preferences UI to delete the Notes config and recreate it. I tried both the preferences and the document lines (there were 2 lines for AutoNotes).

This is my first install and use of Automaton.

I seem to have both "Notes" and "AutoNotes" under the "Open Config" menu.

Thanks,
Nick

Restarting the entire app removed the error message.

What is the proper way to launch AutoNotes? I notice the "Notes" menu is grayed out. File/Open and then leave running?

Thanks,

I can see that error if I try to delete the config whilst the Notes window is open. I should probably prevent deleting a config while it is open.

But that's the only case I can see it happening. Can you close the Notes window, whilst you delete the config file, then recreate it. Then open Notes?

If you can see it happening in another case, can you tell me the exact sequence, including which windows are open at the time?

The Notes menu is greyed out when there is no Notes window active.

If you want to use the Notes hot key to open, then it is recommended you put it in your startup items, because the hot key is only active while running. Otherwise you can just use it like any other text editor and launch it when you need it. Like most OS-X programs it stays running until you quit it.
