CASE 2021 - Recordings & CASE 2022 preparations

Dear all,

We hope this email finds you well. We are writing to you about the i) recordings of CASE 2021, ii) issue in Google Scholar, and iii) the organization of CASE 2022. You receive it because we have somehow in contact for the CASE workshop or related events (CLEF ProtestNews Lab 2019, Euro CSS 2019, AESPEN 2020). 

i) The recordings of the workshop are online on https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sG3LviC1JCc&list=PLUS8-4qoj3NXWu5vpq8z4i7F65A9KdWPB (2 parts). Please help us to spread the word [1, 2].

ii) It would be great if you place your papers from CASE 2021 on arxiv or similar public repositories. It will increase the chances your work is found on the web and citations are properly counted for your paper and the papers you cite. Please do! Google Scholar has some issues with ACL Anthology. Citations to your papers on ACL Anthology may not be visible in some cases. The issue discussed on [4] is still around.

iii) We have started to work on the next edition of the workshop. We would appreciate it if you could

1. provide us any feedback about CASE 2021? What can be improved?
2. tell us about your keynote speaker suggestions (both computer and socio-political sciences)
3. work with us to increase the number of documents and the languages available in the shared Task 1: Multilingual protest news detection [3]. The entry point is to annotate at least 500 articles at document level. More documents and more fine-grained annotations are more than welcome. If you contribute, you will be co-author of the task overview paper.
4. suggest (or work with us to create) any potential source of on-the-ground event list for COVID-19 related socio-political events. As an example, we created one for the BLM paper for CASE 2021 shared task 3 [5].
   
5. express interest in collaborating with us on making CASE 2022 possible by being an organizing and/or program committee member.

7. let us know about any further suggestions.

We will prepare the workshop proposal for ACL and similar conferences (LREC, NAACL, EMNLP, etc.) that will be held in 2022. The more information we can collect in 1-2 weeks, the better. Therefore, your timely response will increase the chances the workshop is accepted.
