Is there a a getting started tutorial anywhere?
I've just installed the SuperMetrics add-on, authorized my access to my AdWords MCC but am struggling to pull any data.
Where can I find simple definitions of: "Split to Rows" and "Split to Columns"? Are there example queries that I can run and so get t grips with how to structure a query?

Same for Filters: is there a specific protocol? How can I filter out AdWords campaigns that are not live?

Thanks in advance. SuperMetrics looks like it has a lot of potential, but I haven't gotten my head round it yet :)

The dimensions in the split by menus should be pretty self-explanatory. Is there a specifc one that you don't understand?

For filtering active campaigns, simply do Campaign status EQUALS active.

I will plead guilty to being stupid if it helps :)

For me it's more easy to learn from example.I'm trying to create a report showing ctr & cost for placements.
I couldn't so I reduced the amount of variables, trying a simpler report first until I have the hang of it. Here is a screenshot of Max CPC / placement>

Why is the MAX cpc value "250000"? What does it mean?
Do I just need to switch the rows with the columns if I want to arrange the placements in one column, and the max cpc in a second column?

I pulled data for the last 21 days, expecting it would give me 21 separate days worth of data, so I could graph fluctuations. What am I doing wrong here so I can get that?

Many thanks,

Jen

To get data by date, split by date. Max CPC seems to be in micros, to get it in regular currency values you would need to divide by 1000. But I think you should rather use the CPC metric.

Thank you Mikael,
this is very helpful.
Is there a way of pulling all placements, even when they run into the tens-of-thousands?
The query I have now right now shows an option of up to "50 categories" Not quite sure why the word category is used here.

So how can I pull large quantities of data when using GDN?

You should split by placement into rows, then you can have thousands of results. Currently you are splitting by placement into columns.

Right, I am starting to feel more comfortable with this tool!

What is the logic of the sequence that placements get listed? Eg: this screenshot is from a list of placements: http://prntscr.com/5bvyos
They are not alphabetical, not in any sort of quantity, I don't see any particular pattern in how the rows are populated. Is there a pattern?

By default, it sorts by the first metric in desceding order. Except in cases like yours where the metric is a calculated one, meaning a division of two metrics, then it's sorted by the denominator metric. You can change the sorting in the Options tab.
