Recently, I'm getting a result where I query Facebook Ads for reach and on some ad sets it says reach "can't be calculated." I'm doing a sumproduct over the range, and this return is breaking a whole bunch of other stuff. It is also not an accurate result. When I go to Facebook, Facebook returns a number in their UI.

Any thoughts on how this could be addressed?

Hey Supermetric. It would be great if someone could answer this. I'm having the exact same issue.

Ok, the problem seems to be that you have several ad sets with the same name. So our tool receives several reach values for one ad set name, and can't sum these because otherwise some reached people could be double-counted. Instead of doing an invalid sum, it displays a "Can't be calculated" error.

To resolve the issue do either of these:
  • Include ad set ID into the split by, then this problem will not occur because each ad set will have a unique ID even if the name is the same, and so our system won't need to attempt to combine those values together.
  • Or another option, if you're fine with our system summing the reach values even though that can lead to incorrect results, is to type "ALLOW_SUM_UNIQUE" into Options: Advanced settings in the add-on sidebar, or into the Special settings column in SupermetricsQueries.
The first option is what we recommend.

Hi Guys,

This doesn't make sense. All of my Ad Sets have completely different names.

Also, Facebook does deduplicate reach when you call combine them.

Also Also, this used to work, but now it does not.

Now when I split even by just campaign, the reach "can't be calculated". How am I supposed to accurately report on reach to a client outside of manually going into to ad's manager and exporting the data that way. Does that now render supermetrics redundant, if the metrics aren't right?

So would you prefer we return incorrect numbers to you by summing the ad set or campaign level figures? If you want this, you can get those results using the ALLOW_SUM_UNIQUE method.

If you share the file with us, we can show you exactly what the problem is.

Thank's for replying.

No I would not prefer an incorrect result, and sorry if I offended you. This was not my intention. I'm just seeing some inconsistencies with the answer you are giving me and what is actually happening in my super metrics data. I would like to get to the bottom of these inconsistencies, and my asking in this forum, I hoped that you would want to fix the problem as well. My mistake if this is not your priority or intention.

I cannot post this particular stuff not his forum as it is private. But I'm happy to send you screenshots to an email.

Thanks!

Try splitting by adset ID as well as name. I think then you will see there are several rows with the same name but a different ID.
