Can anyone tell me where I locate the notification ID for notifications I want to get rid of with the cancel notification block?

Use the "Notification posted?" block to capture the notification ID of an external notification.

Thanks for the reply. I tried that and get something like: 0|com.llamalab.automate|-1|null|102890

What part of that is the id? I've tried each part of it, as well as the entire thing, but it doesn't cancel the notification. Maybe I'm just not understanding what the cancel notification block does.

I think I got it to work. Apparently the entire thing is the id. I'm not sure why it didn't work the first time I tried. Thanks again.

"0|com.llamalab.automate|-1|null|102890" is the format of notification IDs used by Android 4.3+, Automate generates/fakes the same for ID on earlier version.

Canceling notifications are only supported on Android 4.3, on earlier version only Automate notifications can be canceled.
"Ongoing" notification can't be canceled on any Android version.

The Notification cancel block are mostly used to cancel notification of other apps, use the Notification hide block for notifications shown using the Notification show block.

I'm trying to achieve something similar aka Clear all notifications from a particular app using Automate. However, I'm no developer & have very little knowledge when it comes to tasks like these. Can anyone explain in more detail how I can find the notification ID to clear all notifications from a particular app?

It's probably much easier to just disable notifications for that particular app in system Apps settings.
Try using the Notification posted block with the apps package, then use the Notification interact block with action Cancel and the Notification id.

Hi Henrik,
I can't find Cancel in the notification interact block.
I want to Cancel telegram notifications once I've picked out the variables I need in its message content.
Actions available include
Primary, Quatenary, Quinary, Secondary, Tertiarry.
Which of this functions as Cancel because when I used the 'Mark as Seen' option, the message was still showing as unread on my telegram app.
Thanks

Alright, though it's not working.
I want to mark a Telegram message as read without opening its content using its notification ID. Pls, How can I get this done?

An unread notification is not the same as an unread message.
You likely have to find another ways of marking the message as read, maybe Notification interact block with action Content to view it, then Interact block with action Back.

OK, thanks. Though I think doing it that way will run my battery down in no time been that it's a continuous task I'm running.
I switched to Telegram for receiving external requests from my website instead using the cloud message block.
Now, i'm having issues with notification posted block when using telegram.
It doesn't continue the running task I set it to perform once I don't open the new message.
Until I open the Telegram message or mark it as read before the flow continues taking in new notifications posted.
In summary, I have to open each notification one after the order as they come in and close it back before a new notification arrives in order for the notification posted block to function properly.
Pls, is there a better way to get this functioning properly on Telegram using the notification posted block?

I doesn't have to continuously, just set the Proceed option in the notification posted block to When transition.
Unless the Telegram support automation, via intents or otherwise, the best solution would be to talk to the Telegram API directly:

Can anyone tell me how to cancel a specific notification from an app? currently it seems all the notifications from the same app are being dismissed together all at once

Im using a notification posted block and I tried following it with a notification cancel or a notification interact block with a cancel action passing the id to both resulting in the same behavior

That is the way. If all notifications of the app are dismissed then it must be the other app or the system doing it.

Do you mean that they are all sharing the same ID? Is there no way to single out one notification by its message or title?

No, each notification has a unique id. The other app, or system, must be cancelling them all.

Device brand & model?

Android version?

And i can see clearly when i log the IDs that they are indeed different strings for every new notification
