1. Is there a way to hide an app or make it password protected?
2. Can Automate app be hidden itself?
3. Is there a way to hide a folder or make it password protected?

No, standard Android has no such feature
No, see #1
Android can't password protect a single folder, only encrypt the entire storage. Hidden where, in the Files app?

There are ways to see what app or content is on the screen and close or open apps automatically. At certain times I have that when I open an app Automate clicks the home button. You could probably modify that to have you enter a password. However, I think it's difficult to prevent turning the flow off, without risking getting locked out forever. I made a mistake trying to password protect Automate and I couldn't open the dialog where I wanted to enter the password either.
