Hi, I've been using automate just fine recently. However, this week my phone updated to Marshmallow and now I get a message stating that the System UI has stopped working.

My phone is the Sony Xperia Z5 Premium.

Is this a known issue?

I've had to uninstall the app until I find out what is going on.

Thanks in advance.

It's a bug in Sony's Android 6 implementation for bitmap notification status bar icons.
I'll release a new Alpha, hopefully tomorrow, with a fix for the issue.

Great, thanks Henrik. Happy to do some testing on it if you want.

Hi Henrik,

Half fixed. I can now load the app without a problem. I can launch the flashlight flow without a problem - this used to cause the issue.

However, if I restart the phone whilst the flow is running, I get a problem. Once the restart has completed and I then open the app again, I see the cog showing how many fibers are launched and then the system UI message appears. Seems to be an issue with resuming state after restart now.

Does that make sense?

You got version 1.1.12a already!? That was quick, usually takes a few hours.

Odd, resuming is no different that an continuously running. Sony Android 6 may have additional issues.
So the notification for the Flashlight flow do work, once at least.

Please try running the a flow which doesn't show a notification, a flow with a single 5 min Delay for example, then restart the device.

Ha, I also thought it was a bit quick. I had 1.1.12a1. Just gone to install again and 1.1.12a2 is now there. I'll try that and come back to you.

Right, all working now with 1.1.12a2.
I've tested with the simple delay and a reboot you suggested but also with the flashlight flow.

Thanks for the quick response. If I continue with alpha will it automatically update to the released version once that is final?

Great, it doesn't crash at least.
However i've found a bug, a notification likely doesn't have an status bar icon at all, the Flashlight flow for example?
It's not as severe, so i'll fix that for the next release.

Hmm... I get a notification icon - a white speech bubble with an exclamation mark in it when running the flashlight flow.

OK. I see that now. Input, choice and confirm dialog blocks don't seem to have a notification icon. I didn't try the web dialog.

But it's still working, not crashing?
It's a minor issue which can wait until the public, or next Alpha, release.

Oh yes. All working. Recreated my flows - didn't have backups, d'oh. They're all working well.

No crashes. Luckily the flows I have, I tell the dialogs to be displayed directly. So the lack of notification icon isn't really a problem.

Good. As said, i'll fix the missing icon in the next release.
Test all the new features so i can release it early ;)

Hi Henrik,

When do you plan to make the next release? My System UI keeps crashing as well on the XPERIA Z5 compact since I installed the Android 6 update.
I was following this thread and waiting for the new version to appear in the play store...

Thanks

I'm doing some final testing. Sadly a bug has been found in the new CyanogenMod blocks which i was hoping to get fixed before release.
Please install the latest Alpha in which the issue has been fixed :

Hi,

i know this is an old thread, but since you are the only person online to mention this error...
My phone (Sony Xperia Z3) keeps crashing due to this error. Are you aware of any fix for this indipendently of any apps installed?

Please use the Help & feedback menu to send me error report, it will include the device manufacturer/model fingerprint/code which i can add to the exclusion list.
