RCS in SMS block

I realize that RCS is fundamentally different than SMS and it must be hard because nobody really supports it. But can you tell me what the technical reason is that it's never supported? APIs are different? APIs don't exist?

Android doesn't support it, yet.

Maybe this should go to the feature request section, not sure but for the RCS (other than opening the app and pasting the message into the "chat message" field) is there a way in Automate to send the message in that default messages apps thread of which is already RCS? Or say an intent or something like what the Google assistant would do when you use the command to tell it to send a text, that seems to go via RCS.

Ps last update is looking good I'm excited to have that block working with the Google assistant!

Once there's an official API i'll surely use it, if Google will allow it.

Use the Compose MMS/SMS block if you wish to use the default messaging app.
