Hello

I cannot figure out how to do the following. I have reached an impasse and I am reaching out to the community.

I need a picture to go to one of multiple folders after the picture has been taken by my phones camera. In other words once the camera has taken the picture, I want an option screen to pop up and show me multiple folder options to move it to. I want to simply tap one of those options and the picture moves to that folder.

The help I have received already on past questions have been invaluable to me. Thank you community with your support. Can anybody help me understand how to use these blocks to do what I am asking? I am learning but it is not enough to understand how to do this.

If you're using the camera app, Automate has to figure out when a new picture is taken, that may be accomplished using the File monitor block watching for the File created event in the DCIM folder on external storage. Then use the File pick block to select a path and move the picture using the File move block.

If you're launching the Camera app from Automate with the Camera block, you can use the File pick block to select a path where the picture should be saved, before it's taken. Just set the "Path" in the Camera block to the path selected with the File pick block.

I will be using the camera app and not from Automate so I will have to use the File monitor. Does the rest of your suggestion will work on a multiple folder option to move to? for example, I will have let us say 5 folders already pre-created. They are called "sports", "family", "friends", "animals", "mountains". Each time I take a picture a multiple choice screen pop's up with these 5 options. I then chose one and that picture moves to that folder. I ask because it seems like they don't allow a multiple option pop up to happen (more like only one pop up), but again I don't know what I am doing yet. I will read on how to use those blocks you mentioned thanks for your help.

To select a single path use the File pick block. If you want to select multiple choices use the Dialog choice block with "Allow selection of  multiple choices" enabled. There's no pick multiple paths block, yet.

I have created a flow that fits your need. You could change the folder name as you like.

Thank you Automate developer and abin mn for your replies. I have not yet attempted to work on creating my own flow following the developers advice posted in this thread yet but will shortly enough and get back if needed.

abin mn, I downloaded your flow but when I try to import the flow it says "Flow created with a newer version: 41" and only allows me to cancel. When I try to download it in another way and get it into the Automate and try to open the flowchart, it says "Corrupt flow format". I don't want to to run a flow without the ability to look into the flowchart first. I have the latest version of Automate from the google play store. I am not willing to install a beta or alpha version of Automate if this is the problem. Can you make it work for the current fully released version of Automate?

He's using the Alpha version. You'll have to wait until tomorrow for public release, or join the Alpha:

The updated Automate came out and I tried your flow. Everything comes up like I wanted except that all the pictures keep going to the others folder even though I pick one of the other options. Please fix it because it is exactly what I wanted if you can get it to work.

Sorry for the mistake. I think I have corrected it now. Please test the flow and inform me.

It now works as it should but can you make it work in situations where the camera takes more then once picture at a time? For example, I set the camera on HDR mode which gives me two pictures every time I take one shot. Because of this, your flow only moves one picture to the selection I choose and leaves the other one in the default folder where the camera normally puts it in.

What's the issue, monitor for two changed/created files, or the selection of multiple choices?

I can't find a way to monitor two files.

May be the fiber is busy too long when it's not at the File monitor block, try:

          :
+-------+
|       |
|  File Monitor
|       |
|     Fork ------+
|       |        |
+-------+  Dialog choice
