With the last update Automate started asking for permission each time it has to turn on or off WiFi, which makes my script that need that function basically useless; the privilege in the permission section checked and grey, so I can't modify that.

Is there a way to give permission once and for all like it was before?

Have you installed the Legacy extension?

Android version?

Sorry, forgot about the version, Android 6.

What do you mean by Legacy extension? I uninstalled the extensions, since after the last update there was a warning saying there were deprecated and they should be uninstalled; I'm not sure if I had the Lecagy one and I uninstalled it, but I tried looking in the Store but I didn't find it.

I was wondering if I should check "access deprecated system features", but I'm not sure what it does.

I had Automate network, settings and superuser permissions extensions.

Ok, it seems I solved it: not sure why, "Change Wi-Fi connectivity" was set on Notify instead of Accept, and either this didn't cause issues with the previous version, or it was automatically changed somehow; when I changed it to Accept it stopped asking for confirmation, sorry I didn't think about checking it first.

About the Legacy extension, where can I find it?

It's only needed to toggle Wi-Fi on Android 10+. A flow should request it when needed.

Hi everbody,
I have exactly same problem: since some summer update instead of simply switching wi-fi or bt OFF, an interactive popup shows up asking "allow of prohibit" and it shows up only when im in automate app, background operation shows nothing, nor switching wifi off...
I've read previous messages, i have no extensions installed.
Permission "Connect and disconnect from Wi-Fi" is grayed out, but selected.
I couldn't find anything in my phone or automate about mentioned above "Change Wi-Fi connectivity" was set on Notify instead of Accept"...
Request help, need to turn off automatically

I have it long-tapping on Automate, then App info and Other permissions; it's under Android's permissions for Automate.

It's likely caused by some non-standard "privacy" feature, as it only seems to occur on those Chinese device known for breaking Android.
Ensure the Legacy extension app has all permission granted in the system Apps settings. However, the Legacy extension is only necessary for toggling Wi-Fi on Android 10+

But still, it wasn't like that before update...
What do you mean by "Legacy extension" ?
"Automate network permissions" ?

As said, on standard Android 9 toggling Wi-Fi should be allowed without any workarounds/extensions.

Yup, I noticed the same after "the" update, I'm sadly not sure anymore which update it was, as workaround I started using svc wifi enable / disable (though I think this requires either root or adb), there also is no setting anywhere to change if showing a pop-up to confirm changing WiFi status

I’m really sorry if this is annoying, BUT,
I can’t solve this issue myself.
Henrik, would you please describe exact steps to perform to achieve background turning of wifi and bluetooth?
Because I didn’t update my phone system or droid version nor security patch and the cause is somewhere in Automate.
On another device - android 7 - everything works okay.
Please help

If have a Xiaomi device, due to their non-standard Wi-Fi permission, the only way is to use the ADB Shell command or Shell command superuser block to execute: svc wifi disable
And for Bluetooth, to execute: svc bluetooth disable
