Question: is it possible to hide the master notification of Automate that appear when any flow is running?
I didn't find the option to do so.
It's obviously an aesthetic issue, but I have many flow that runs constantly on my device and that notification always take useful space in the notification area.
Thanks for any reply

Sadly, no. Android requires a notification to keep a background service running, without it Automate would become very unreliable since Android would regularly kill it.

Allright. I suppose the priority is already the lowest one, since i don't see the icon normally. Well, i guess i'll just have to get used to it. I'll look for an app that hides notifications to the user but not to the system.
Thanks for the prompt reply

I see that you have added the option to 'Hide "running" notification'. This is great. However the option still remains greyed even after I have granted the application SuperUser access. Is there some setting I have missed?

It doesn't work on Marshmallow due to an Android bug, at least not until i've implemented a workaround.

if your device is rooted and has xposed installed ,you can use "NotifyClean" app to hide that. I am using it and it works fine.

Old thread I know but in case anyone else wants this issue fixed, just go to:

android settings-->apps-->
automate-->notifications--toggle "block all".

That solved it for me. I'm not sure if there are any unintended side effects yet but my flows function just fine, and app has given no errors :D

Please don't do this! This will cause all kinds of issue, the pick blocks and neither Notification/Toast show blocks will stop working.

Thanks for point this out - I had a feeling there would be some unintended results. I currently am only using 2 of the most basic wifi based flows I could make, so they don't seem to be impacted, but that's good to know for the future, I'll have to switch it back on

No, the hack used stopped working on Android 6+. However the Android preventing it seems to have been fixed on Android 7, so it may return, but it'll need investigating.

How does whatsapp, telegram and other apps do to make their app run in the background as a service? Isn't it possible to use that same path to avoid the notification but still being reliable?

They don't run in the background.

How do they receive notifications then? Do they have a separated notification service that is allowed to run in background without the notification?

They use GCM/FCM high priority messages which cause the app to be temporarily started in the background, to handle the message.
