Hi,

I'd like to see if an app is running, then start it in the background if it isn't. I can use the 'notifications posted' block to see if the app is running, though this seems a little like a workaround. Is there a better way to do this?

If the app isn't running, I want automate to start the app in the background so that its controls appear in the notification drawer (which they do by default). I can't see a way to open an app in the background, is there one? I can start the app with a broadcast but it comes to the foreground.

The purpose of this is to start the remote control software for my home music player so that the controls are ready when I get home.

Does anybody have a good way to do these?

Cheers

Jon

Android doesn't support starting apps in the background, you'll have to use the App start block and an Interact block with action Home afterwards.

To see if it is already running take a look at my flow:

Neat. Where does 'matches' come from? Is it built into Automate?
